I'm going to start this post with an apology because this will probably be one of my shorter WIPW posts. Also, the pictures won't be very good this week, as it is 9:15 at night. It was overcast all day, and never had natural light to take pictures with so ended up having to use the flash. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I was on vacation from Friday until Monday, so I didn't get much crocheting done. Las Vegas isn't exactly the kind of city you walk around with your crochet hook and yarn! LOL
I was able to get a little crocheting done Friday on the car ride there since my husband drove. I decided to take my brown afghan with me since I don't need a pattern and only needed one skein of yarn since it takes so long to crochet a full square. As you can see, in the 4 1/2 hours we drove, I didn't get too much done. Not even a full square. :( At least it was something though!
When we got back Monday night, we were watching our first Bad/Old Horror movie of the season (we have a pack of 100 Horror Classics on DVD but most are just down right terrible, which makes it even more fun!), so I was able to work on my Ice Cream blanket. I also did a few rows during my Tuesday crochet meet up.
Last, but not least, I couldn't help not using my new yarn I got in Vegas (see my post from yesterday, linked in the first paragraph of this post to which yarn I purchased!) I started this hat with the de vi yarn. It's SOOOO soft, it's like crocheting with a cloud. I think I'm in love!
For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!
I so want to figure this out. and you know what? I lost my camera. I have looked everywhere. I had it by computer cuz I wanted to download pics. and. it. is. gone. SIGH.
ReplyDeleteHubby cleaned room and still no camera :( I love what you share here. I'm working on afghan for son, purse for me, mittens, hats, etc for children and various nieces and nephew, made a head cover and fingerless gloves for friend who takes care of horses, mufflers, washrags, baby booties 7 hats for friends, slippers for dad, and I'm working on two afghans. I was on a roll until a couple of weeks ago when I had to work nights and got sick.
I'm currently making up a pattern to make my baby mittens. I haven't liked any pattern I found. Any one have good pattern for infants?
Good luck on your projects! I look forward to seeing more of them.
Your ice-cream blanket is looking great and the new yarn is very pretty indeed.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the Mr. Linky not showing up for me??
ReplyDeleteHere is my WIPW post:
http://trishascrochetblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/work-in-progress-wednesday-5.html
Thank you, Tami. Sorry about last week. I had something else I needed to do.
ReplyDeleteLas Vegas, huh? Lucky!!!
ReplyDeleteYour blankets are lovely. :-)
Your dvd pack sounds rather awesome! I think you got a lot done but I know what you mean, when you are working on a few projects it doesn't really seem like much has gotten done haha!
ReplyDeleteThe yarn you bought in Vegas reminds me of some yarn I bought here in Germany. I don't think mine is as soft as you describe yours though. Lucky you! And Vegas! Woohoo! I must however say I am most admiring the table the picture was taken on! Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHi Leona, thanks for commenting! Hopefully you can find that camera soon. It sounds like you have a lot of great projects in the works. For baby gloves/mittens, try searching Ravelry. They always seem to have what I'm looking for.
ReplyDeleteNorthern Monkey, thank you! The new yarn is a dream! I'm not used to working with premium yarns!
Trisha, that's odd! I have no clue! Maybe it will show up again so you can add your link? I can see it! Is anyone else having issues?
Liz, no problem! Don't feel pressured to post each week, though we'd love to have you each time!
accountantgrrl, thank you! Yep, I love Vegas (for short periods of time).
Alea, the dvd pack is awesome. We got it super cheap about 2 years ago. Some of the movies are not in the best condition, but with 100 there are a ton to choose from. If you LOVE horrible movies, it's totally worth the $22. This is what we have: http://www.amazon.com/Horror-Movie-Pack-Bela-Lugosi/dp/B000NVIGD4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1286377059&sr=8-1
suddenexpression, thank you! That's our end table and we have a large coffee table that matches. The center of both tables was actually casted from a real leaf. Pretty cool. :)
Oooh! I'm not into current horror (i'm a baby!) but I do love cheesy horribly bad old movies!
ReplyDeleteHi Tami! Wow, Vegas sounds wonderful, and I'm sure I couldn't have possibly behaved in that yarn shop! The yarns you picked up looked wonderful!... Love how your Ice Cream blanket is coming along, and can't wait to see your hat when it's done! Have a great day, and thanks for hosting WIP Wednesday! ~tina
ReplyDeleteThe linky isn't showing up for me for any of your posts.. What is going on.. =(
ReplyDeleteAlea, I hate current/modern horror, too! These are terribly cheezy/poorly made from the 1930-80s it seems. LOL
ReplyDeleteBeansieleigh, thank you! It was hard to behave. It seems like every yarn I fell in love with was too expensive for my liking. I don't want to turn into a yarn snob, so I made sure to tread lightly.
Trisha, I'm not sure. 11 have posted already, so others can see it. What does it look like to you?
There is nothing there. Just your post about not having to comment if you don't want to, the box should be below that but there is nothing there, no error code or anything.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, that's odd! Anyone else having this issue?
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe I had a block up or something and that's why it wasn't showing it but I went and checked my page for my weekly book thing I do and a couple of other blogs that have the Mr. Linkys and theres is showing up so I don't know what the heck is going on..
ReplyDeleteTrisha, can you see old Mr Linky's from my site, or the open Flash Your Stash Mr Linky?
ReplyDeleteYour pictures look great to me. The blanket looks scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteI'm having no trouble with Mr. Linky.
Thanks Beadknitter! Yeah, they didn't turn out as bad as I thought they would when using the flash. I usually try and use natural light.
ReplyDeleteNope, no linkys from your site what so ever, I scrolled down to see what was up and see if the other ones were working but none are working for me on your page.. I tried other websites and they are working fine, I don't know what is up...
ReplyDeleteSorry Trisha! I wish I could help you out more. I have no clue what's going on. No one else seems to have the problem so I can't figure out how to troubleshoot it. All the Mr Linky's are showing up for me, and my account seems a-ok.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, Alea suggested emptying your cache. That could work.
ReplyDeleteThat's my answer to everything web related so fingers crossed! No idea, frankly Mr. Linky kind of scares me!
ReplyDeleteIs that an afghan crochet hook you're using in the first pic? I am soooooo curious about how that works. Does the crocheted FO turn out differently... like not as stiff as normal crochet?
ReplyDeletethe ice cream blanket is coming along nicely!
ReplyDeleteLove watching old good/bad movies through the winter. Nothing more comfy than snuggling up on the couch with your sweetie, some yarn and movies.
Love your Ice Cream blanket. :)
ReplyDeletePentalia, it is! I'm doing the afghan stitch with a J afghan crochet hook. It comes out like a knitted afghan and not stiff at all! It's SUPER fun, but takes forever to do. I learned how to do it from this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYBAhIxJAU4
ReplyDeleteDina, thanks! I'm starting to really love it. It's getting blankety (I know that's not a word. LOL) so I'm getting excited. There is nothing better, is there? I worked on the hat you see above while we watched a terrible horror movie from 1970 made by Aaron Spelling and drinking rum and coke!
Melissa, thanks!
Thanks for the afghan-stitch video link... it was great, and now I know what that's all about. I've been wanting a way to make a drapey crocheted shawl, and I think this might be the answer.
ReplyDeleteI actually just emptied my cache 3 days ago when I had an error with yahoo mail.. Yours is the only blog that the mr linky isn't working for me.. =( How frustrating!
ReplyDeletePentalia, I'd definitely recommend it. I love working on it, but the thing is, it takes forever to do one row because you have to go through it twice. Try it out and see if you enjoy it. The great part about it is, at least with the afghan, you know exactly how many you should have on your hook at all times. It's also a nice change from your standard crochet. When my hands/arms get tired of the motion of crocheting, I work on this because it's a little different.
ReplyDeleteSorry Trisha! Wish I could help.
That is some gorgeous yarn you purchased!
ReplyDeleteI have joined the WIP, can't wait to share my upcoming projects...
Thanks, knitterpixie! Welcome to the group!
ReplyDeleteI really like Fisherman's wool. The first time I purchased a skein it was with the intent to try Kool-Aid dying...didn't get that far. Knitted it up instead. :)
ReplyDeleteKathy, I just saw someone's dyed Fisherman's wool on Ravelry! That's my next big project! I've never tried it but think the oatmeal color would be perfect for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your ice cream blanket!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joycers!
ReplyDeleteWow! You're right -- that yarn is pretty much SJ Sharks all the way. :) Seriously though, that's going to make a gorgeous hat. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteI've used DiVe's Autonno yarn before for a scarf and you're right, it's super yummy. Mine was very loosely knit and it did stretch when washed, so if the size is important you might want to wash a little swatch before you get too far. My two cents, completely unsolicited, as I hate to finish something and be surprised (or shocked!) when I wash and block it. Thanks again for WIPW, I enjoy it tremendously :-)
ReplyDeletePaula, seriously, isn't it? Now I won't be able to stop thinking about the Sharks when I wear it! LOL
ReplyDeleteMarushka, thanks for letting me know! That's actually good because I'm almost done with the hat and it's a little too small. I hope it stretches! LOL
YAY!! I found out the problem, I downloaded a new virus scanner the other day and for whatever reason it took the mr. linkys away.. I had to uninstall the virus protection to make them work again because I couldn't find anywhere to disable that feature..
ReplyDeleteYAY, Trisha! Glad you were able to figure it out. Weird that it was only my blog and not others.
ReplyDeleteYeah well it's not working again today.. lol.. I don't know what the heck is going on.
ReplyDeleteOops to Mr. Linky! Here is my post:
