Hi everyone! I'm officially back from my trip and I must say, I miss Madison a LOT. I'd go back in a heartbeat, as the city is so full of life and character. It's very much the Portland of the Midwest, IMO, after being in both only 3 months apart. It was great weather, as we got thunderstorms, rain, sunshine, heat, humidity, and even a little cool. We saw it all. I visited a lot of great yarn stores, and the best part was that quite a few of them have cafes in or attached to them so you can sit all day and knit without bothering anyone. I met some amazing people (yarn/fiber related) and bought a few skeins (all locally dyed), too.
Unfortunately, I don't have an FO to share today, as I was working feverishly on my Hitchhiker shawl, until I started my Featherweight Cardigan. Now that it has my attention (I've already separated for the sleeves and just started it last Friday evening!), the shawl is sitting and crying in the corner. I promise I'll finish it soon, though, as I love it so much. I'll show my progress on both in next week's WIPW. Until then, share your FOs!

Work in Progress Wednesday 102
Hi everyone! As you read this, I'm traveling across the US to Wisconsin! Yes, I'm going there again, but this time Madison! My husband is there on business for two weeks, so I'm flying in to be with him for a few days. I haven't seen him a lot recently, because he's been having to work super late (until 1am every night) so I'll actually get to see him MORE in Wisconsin than I would in San Diego! What this means for you is the next FO Friday and WIPW (I will be home Wednesday, but not to post) will be scheduled in advance. I'm going to try to add pictures at least to the Wednesday post next week, but we'll see what happens.
So for this Wednesday, I have a few things to share.
I know this is just yarn, pattern and needles, but it will be the start of the Featherweight Cardigan! I'm so excited to start it. I'm using yarn I got in Oregon. It's Baby Alpaca and Silk. I plan to do 4 rows of the dark teal and 2 rows of the light blue. I hope to cast on my trip and I figured it is a perfect travel knitting sweater since it's super easy!
That's it from me today. I hope you all have a great day!

I've been working on my shawl, but haven't had too much time to knit recently. I've had a bit of work to get done, seeing as I'll be gone for a week. I LOVE how this is knitting up! It's the Rainbow Fruit Chews colorway of Candy Skein Yummy fingering and the pattern is the Hitchhiker. I have this on the trip with me, so hopefully the next time you see it, it will be finished (maybe not blocked, but finished)!

FO Friday 95
Hi everyone! I hope you had a great week! Mine has been busy as usual. :) I don't have any FO today unfortunately. I'm SOOO close to finishing my Rhombi but I had a little mishap on Wednesday night. I was home alone and tired, knitting while my husband was still at work. Not even thinking, I picked up the stitches for the second sleeve and finished knitting it. Not until I bound off and compared it to the other did I realize that I picked up WAY more stitches on the second sleeve in comparison to the first. OOPS! It's a HUGE size difference. I'm going to have to rip it out and start over (just the sleeve thankfully). I think before I do that, I'm going to pick up the edging and finish that first. That way re-doing the sleeve will be a little less painful.
The good news is, we got our sideboard delivered. Isn't it pretty??

Also, I updated the shop with new sets of mini skeins! This time it's the purple collection!
That's it for me today. Have a great weekend!

Work in Progress Wednesday 101
Hi everyone!! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I've been busy with work and also we're re-furnishing our living room/dining room which is fun but a bit of work! We've decided on Mid Century Modern and found an awesome buffet/sideboard Teak table from 1955 that will be delivered Thursday. I'll be spending all today cleaning and moving out/rearranging furniture as it is 6 feet long! I'm super excited.
That said, I've been working away on a new project and an old one! I don't have a picture of the old one (the Abalone cardigan) unfortunately, but I'm pretty close to finishing it! I just need to finish one short sleeve and pick up the edging/knit it. The body and one arm is totally finished.
You may have seen my post last week about the new colorway added to the permanent collection, Rainbow Fruit Chews. I knew I had to knit it up right away, as it was calling my name. You can't get much more fun than this colorway. Right now, I have it dyed in Yummy fingering (though I do plan to add it to all yarn bases) so I knew I wanted to make a shawl or socks. Before starting another pair of socks, I need to finish a bunch I have on the go, so I chose the shawl.
Since I had so much fun with my Trillian, I decided to try another of her designs, the Hitchhiker! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this yarn is knitting up! It just makes me want to keep knitting on and I will say, I must make socks out of it next. It's just so happy! I can't wait to see how it changes as the shawl gets bigger!
That's about it for me today! Tomorrow I will be posting a new set of Candy Skein minis, so check back then! Also, I started a Twitter account for Candy Skein! Be sure to follow for all updates/news/contests/KAL/CALs at @candyskein

FO Friday 94
Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week and a great holiday if you are in the US. As mentioned in my post yesterday, we just hung around the house but it was nice and relaxing.
I've been busy with updates to Candy Skein Yummy fingering, which was posted yesterday including a new colorway, Rainbow Fruit Chews! Be sure to check it out. :)
As promised on Wednesday, I'm going to share my Trillian shawl! I love how it turned out and can't wait to make another one. I think it's a perfect pattern for variegated yarns. The way this yarn pooled, it makes me think of either a marble, or when I used to use Silly Putty to copy Sunday comics from the news paper and then would stretch it!
I was SOOO excited to block it, I forgot to measure it and take a picture of it after it was finished but before it was soaking. I used T pins to block it, as I don't have blocking wires. I have to say, due to the garter stitch, this thing GREW. It just about tripled in size.
And here I am wearing it. Excuse the none matching, but my husband took this on 4th of July so I was wearing red, white and blue! The shawl doesn't exactly match, but I didn't want to change just for the picture. LOL
Materials:
Pattern: Trillian shawl
Yarn: Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Sock Club June '12 colorway Lemongrass Sour
Needles: US 4 (3.5MM) Knit Picks Harmony
Have a great weekend!

Work in Progress Wednesday....100
Happy 4th of July to my friends in the US, happy belated Canada Day to my friends to the north! Also, to everyone...HAPPY WIPW 100!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's all say this together...WHOA. That's a LOT of posts. LOL
I don't have a ton to show you, as I finished my Trillian shawl and it's blocking now. I don't want to spoil FO Friday this week! I've decided I'm going to work on one project at a time as I finish them, as I have too many WIPWs and too many projects I want to start.
That being said, I am working on something! I don't know if you remember, but I pulled out my Abalone cardigan that started back at the end of February. I'm making it in SweetGeorgia worsted yarn in Oxblood (which is a deeper red then the picture above shows as this was out in the sunlight and blown out). I LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn as it's just a gorgeous color and has a great ply. It's VERY stretchy and springy for a 100% merino, making a little hard to work with but still great. I thought I had a ton to go on this cardigan, but after working on it a little last night and measuring it, I only have about an inch to go before splitting off for the sleeves. This is a top down cardigan, so left will be the short sleeved arms, yoke (or top of the cardigan) and then the edging around the whole thing. I hope it flies off the needles as I can't wait to try it on! I have to say, I love top down raglan as you can try on as you go. This mystery with bottom up kinda sucks.
That's it for me today! Have a fun and safe 4th of July!
