Candy Skein June '13 colorway- Bubblegum Ice Cream
It’s here! The June ‘13 colorway, Bubblegum ice cream, available now through June 30th!
The summer months are finally here and what better way to chase the hot days than ice cream? As a kid, my favorite flavor of ice cream in the summer was Bubblegum. It was a perfect combination of sugary sweet that was a flavor of its own, and the best part, you had bubblegum to enjoy later that night!
That’s why I picked Bubblegum ice cream as the June 2013 colorway! This awesome yarn is kettle dyed in two different layers of a bright pink and turquoise that mix into a pretty purple that creates a wild and fun tie dye affect. It would be perfect for any fingering weight project!
Colorway: Bubblegum Ice Cream
Fiber content: 75% Merino Wool, 25% Nylon Superwash
Weight: Fingering Weight
Yardage: 465 yards
Unit Weight: 100 grams
Care: Machine wash/Tumble dry low
Price: $20

Work in Progress Wednesday 146
Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. We had a very fun and busy weekend, and since it was a long one, it's catch up time this week. Before I get started, I just had to take a quick moment to have some hockey excitement. As you all know, I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE hockey fan, and my teams are the LA Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins. As of Tuesday night, they are both going to their respective conference finals. I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I have a few things to show you, but not a lot of progress to be honest. I didn't get any knitting/crafting time this weekend.
This is fabric that I cut out to make a little tote bag. It's a free pattern on Craftsy (a free class actually!). I was having issues with my sewing machine (user error I think, since my friend came over and it worked great for her), so I hope to jump back on this and see how I do making it. I don't have a ton of sewing experience but one of my goals is to get much better than I am at it. Isn't this amazing fabric? Again, sorry for the bad pic, but it's Nancy Drew fabric!!!! So awesome.
That's it for me today! I hope you all have a great rest of the week and I'll see you back here on Friday!
For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!

Not a ton of progress since you last saw this, but do you notice the little side wings starting?! It's going good, and now I'm just marching to the finish. I think the pattern calls for 12" before the final end rows. I hope to have this finished in the next week or so. This is my Herbivore shawl by Stephen West in MadTosh Sock in Spectrum. Not a great pic, but I took it at 11:30 at night.

FO Friday 139
Hi everyone! I hope you had a good week. I was super busy so I'm very excited for the weekend to come, especially since it's a long weekend here in the US. Monday is Memorial Day, which is always the unofficial start to summer. This weekend is the start of grilling, watermelon, deviled eggs and tiki drinks in the backyard. I can't wait!
This is the finished May square of my Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery Woodland Sampler cross stitch. I've also finished the frame section for June, so come June 1st, I'm ready to rock. I'm having so much fun with this cross stitch and was just telling my husband that if it continues the way it's going, I want to get it nicely framed. Each month gets better and better in my opinion.
That's it for me this week. Have a great and safe weekend!

Hi everyone! I hope all is well with you. Today I have an update to my Stephen West, Herbivore shawl and a few new yarns in stock at Candy Skein to share.
I've completed the first part and have a few rows of the second section. I actually almost screwed up (or did a little but not big deal). I forgot that I was only supposed to do the first part for 5". Once I remembered (at knit group last night), I already had 5 1/2", but decided to go with it and just start the second section once I got the full 4 rows completed of the portion I was doing. I figured if I have to, I can just make the second section a little smaller since it's by inches as well (12"). No worries. I like the way it's turning out so far. It's funny to see it in picture form. I think the bright red and pink areas are way more prominent in the picture than they are in real life.
This is a new colorway to Candy Skein, Sugar Snap Pea! It's currently available in Candy Skein Yummy fingering, which I also updated in several other colors on Monday.
I also updated the Sweet fingering section of the shop! All of these colorways are now available, from left to right starting at the top: Poppyseed, Foil Wrapper, Grape Soda, Tardis Tart and Watermelon.
All yarn shown (and listed as in stock on the website) is available to ship today!

FO Friday 138
Happy Friday everyone! I have my Sweet Summer Rays shawl as I promised to share this week. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pictures of me wearing it as my husband worked a lot, so I was never able to get him to take pics. I did however get a lot of other pictures of it! I hope you enjoy! I have to say, I love love love it.
I thought this picture showed the great texture change between the purls and knit stitches. Please excuse the bird poop...lol

Work in Progress Wednesday 144
Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday. I hope you are having a great week.
I realized Monday afternoon that I wasn't actively knitting anything, and my knitting group meets Monday night. This past weekend I worked a lot on my steam punk cross stitch, and didn't have time to really think about what I would be knitting for the week. I had so much fun with the Sweet Summer Rays shawl, I knew I wanted to make another shawl. I remembered I had purchased several Stephen West patterns last year during a 50% off sale he was having. I thought the mix of this skein of MadTosh Sock in Spectrum that I bought at Stitches West.
Here's the start of the shawl. I have to say, this yarn is GORGEOUS! This picture doesn't even do it justice. I can't wait to see this shawl grown and how the colors will pool.
That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week. On Friday I'll have my Sweet Summer Rays shawl to share!

Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week, and are happy that the weekend is upon us once more. I just have a small project to share with you that I made last minute.
As I mentioned last week, my husband's work was having a Defiance launch party for the release of the video game/tv show he has been working on the last five years. I bought a new dress just for the occasion, but of course, as I always seem to do, I ordered it from Modcloth at the last moment possible. We ended up having to pay for faster shipping, as I kept debating on which dress to get, and also which size. That's always the dilemma with online clothes shopping, right? I've always had great success with Modcloth, but this was a little different as it was in UK sizes.
The great news was it fit perfect and came in the nick of time (it arrived at 11am on the day of the party!). The bad news was, it was supposed to have a little red belt with it, and the belt was no where to be found. I called customer service and they were very awesome, as usual, and promised to put the missing belt in the mail ASAP at no extra charge. Of course, that didn't help me that night, right? So, I turned to my crafts and figured out what to do...
At 3pm, only 3 hours before the start of the party and when we were meeting our friends for dinner beforehand, I came up with a plan. I took my leftover Hazel Knits Artisan Sock yarn in Ruby Love, held it double to make it a little thicker, grabbed the only double point needles I could find (I usually hate DPNS) which were a US 7 and went to town on a very long I-cord. In an hour and a half, I had a belt! I seriously was weaving in ends as we walked out our front door. I think it worked out PERFECT, and of course my husband had to mention to everyone we talked to that I made my belt right before we came to the party.
Here is the final product!
How's that for some quick thinking and craftiness?? Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone! Happy hump day. I hope you're all doing well. Thank you for the kind comments on Friday for Candy Skein/Milo's birthday. They were much appreciated. :) We had a great time at the Defiance party. I'll have a picture on Friday for you as I ended up knitting something quickly for my outfit!
Today I just have my Sweet Summer Rays shawl to share with you. I haven't had much time to work on much of anything else. I just started the border tonight, so I don't have much more to go. It will definitely be on the blog as a FO next Friday. I can't wait to finish this and then move back onto my sweater! I also have a few other things I want to work on, but haven't had the time. Sorry the picture is so blown out! If you're interested to see some amazing versions of this shawl, many made in Candy Skein yarn, check them out!

FO Friday 136
Happy Friday everyone!! Today is a busy day for us over here. It's my Corgi Milo's 4th birthday (Happy birthday Mi!), it's Candy Skein's 2nd birthday and tonight is a fun/big night, as we are going to the Defiance launch party (the game my husband has been working on the past 5+ years) for my husband's company. It should be a good time.
I also wanted to thank you for the good wishes for my cat, Roxy. She's feeling better, though still sneezing/watery eyes but MUCH better. She doesn't want to be held 24/7.
This is my Woodland Sampler cross stitch from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. As you can see, I did finish April in time, which I'm so excited about! This is my favorite one so far I think. May is just as cute, but you'll have to wait until Wednesday to see the start of that one.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. We're taking Milo to the beach or lake (we haven't decided), Starbucks (he loves it there!) and a pet store to buy a new birthday toy on Saturday.

Hi everyone! Happy May 1st! I hope you're having a great week. Today I get my haircut and styled and am very excited about it! I usually go to the cheaper places, but this time I actually have an appointment at a real salon. I'm nervous and excited..we'll see how it goes! That's all that's going on here other than yarn dyeing, knitting and cross stitch! I guess it's time to get to WIPW!
I started this new cross stitch for my husband's studio/guitar room! It's steampunk based and is going to take me FOREVER. It's really big (I think 10"x16" or a little bigger) and the WHOLE thing is filled in, not just the main image. That's a whole lot of thread and stitching. So far it's fun and almost feels like a puzzle. I'm coloring in the chart with a blue pencil as I got so I don't get confused on what I've already completed. You'll be seeing this thing grow slowly but surely and for a very very long time. I apologize in advance. I'll only show it when it changes a lot.
Sorry for the awkward picture, but my kitty is sick and I'm holding her while trying to take this picture sideways. Not an easy thing to do! This week I've also worked a little on my shawl, but haven't had a ton of knitting time lately. I didn't pick up any knitting at all this weekend! Crazy, right? This is the Sweet Summer Rays shawl and the KAL is still going on on Ravelry. You're welcome to still join in!
