I diluted the Wiltons in those condiment squirt bottles from the dollar store with a bit more vinegar and hot water. Wring out the hanks and place on a length of plastic wrap. Squirt the dye on the areas you want it. Seal up the plastic wrap and put in a microwave container and heat in the microwave for a few minutes, rest a bit then another few minutes. Let it cool.

I've also put the plastic wrap bundles in a baking dish and put in the oven on 140F for 30 minutes. Let it cool.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03229883789485107841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8537943107691885690.post-41503819812945164712010-10-18T15:41:11.288-07:002010-10-18T15:41:11.288-07:00Ah, that's good to know. It doesn't work on cotton dye I believe. you may have to get the t-shirt dye that may have a different compound. You can always try it!

Marushka, thank you! Isn't it so fun! It's an instant gratification project too -- I can dye yarn way faster than I can knit it up :-)Marushka C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15501083029600186860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8537943107691885690.post-34806261650502328412010-10-18T13:55:21.345-07:002010-10-18T13:55:21.345-07:00Thank you! The great thing about both Kool-Aid and the icing dye, they are both edible so you can use your Crock Pot for food later. Put the yarn in the pot when it's just room temperature out of the tap, and turn it on high with the lid. I put a glass plate on top of the yarn so that it was completely under and let sit for an hour. Then I mixed the colors and poured them in and let cook for another hour with the lid on. When done, the water should be clear, leaving all dye in the yarn. Make sure to be careful because the water and yarn will be SUPER hot!Tami Klockauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07652939575098493098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8537943107691885690.post-79908939656768999542010-10-18T12:54:35.862-07:002010-10-18T12:54:35.862-07:00Very pretty! At one time, I was cooking for 2 households, and I needed 2 big ones and 2 little ones, but now I just can't bring myself to get rid of them. Then the other 2 came from a MIL and a friend who passed away. Okay, one of them is going to be for dyeing.

So tell me, at what point did you heat the stuff in the Crockpot, high or low, and how long?Amanda Steveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11852217172174255190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8537943107691885690.post-68248014912470102882010-10-18T12:48:20.227-07:002010-10-18T12:48:20.227-07:00It turned out wonderful! It turned out wonderful!Aleahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05793307292393570181noreply@blogger.com
