Work-in-Progress Wednesday 41
Happy Wednesday! It's cold and rainy in Southern California, but that's okay for me, as I'm heading to Palm Springs this weekend. This cool weather will make the hot desert bearable, which is a nice surprise!
Since we're going to the desert and I just got a haircut (a severe haircut, chopping off about an average of 6 inches), I thought I would make the hair kerchief that someone had in last week's WIPW (sorry, I don't remember who at the moment!). I just bought two new bathing suits for the trip that have teals and blues/purples, so when I found this cotton in my stash, I knew it would be perfect for it. So far I like the way the yarn is pooling, except for the large white spot in the middle.
I haven't had too much time to work on my sock, but I finished the ribbing and am working on the heel flap. I decided to do the partridge eye version (I think that's what it's called), since I did the standard heel flap on my other sock.
For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!
Please remember to use the new link to your post from this week, overriding the one that Mr. Linky saves from the previous. Thanks!
I had so much fun joining in last time that I thought I should keep it going ;) I love the colour of the sock you are working on btw
ReplyDeleteBlues and teals are the best colours for summer - can't wait to see the kercheif :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip. That socks looks so nice so far. Love it. learning to knit socks is one of my goals!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have lots of yarning time while you are away, have fun! I love the colors for the kerchief too.
ReplyDeleteThose socks look beautiful, I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the hair kerchief I'm sure it will come in handy a lot on holiday. Hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeleteHi there. I found you through 'Stitched Together' and have added a link for the first time this week :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy Palm Springs!
Your sock and hair kerchief look great! Have a great time in Palm Springs. Can you send some of that warm weather east? We're freezing here in Boston.
ReplyDeleteHi and thanks for letting me join in! Love the hair kerchief - enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteThat hair kerchief is awesome, I love how that yarn is pooling!
ReplyDeleteKerchief, that takes me back, I tried to think of that word the other day and couldn't. We wore them all the time back in high school. Love the yarn colors, and having something on your head when at the beach is a good idea. Sometimes the wind is so strong it's annoying having your hair blowing in your face all the time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip! This is my first WIP Wednesday. I love the idea!!
ReplyDeletelove the colour of the cotton yarn! look forward to the action shoot! :) take lots of pictures on your trip! hope you have a lovely time
ReplyDeleteWhew...wasn't sure I'd have time, but managed to visit, read, and comment on 1-23. I do though wish people would get rid of those captcha things, it really slows down the visiting.
ReplyDeleteYay for vacay! Hope you and your new 'do have a fab time in Palm Springs this weekend. And, we *still* want to see pictures of the new haircut. :) Nice job on the kerchief!
ReplyDeleteHave fun in the desert! My husband used to go camping out on Joshua Tree with his dad. He's got some great pictures of the bonfires they would make. No WIP from me this week, just an interview.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in Palm Springs. I'm heading to Hampton VA for my friend's graduation ceremony so no WIP for me today. :(
ReplyDeleteThat new sock looks as fabulous as the last.
Pinkundine, welcome back! Thanks for the nice sock comment. The yarn is Candy Skein Blackberry.
ReplyDeleteSarah, totally the colors! I'm so pale, I can't go much darker in color without being washed out, so that's a good thing. LOL
Pearlin J, you should give socks a try! It's not as hard as it looks. Thank you. :)
Julie, I should have some time, as most of the trip we'll be sitting at the pool listening to tiki bands!
Carole, thanks!
Ms C, thank you!
Laura, welcome to WIPW and thank you!
Karen, funny enough, it's cold right now in San Diego! It will be nice to have some warmth once we're there.
witchyknits, you're welcome and thank you.
Charlotte, thanks! It is pooling pretty good. You never know with Sugar N Cream yarn.
Sandy, exactly my thought!
Nic, welcome to WIPW!
DeVanity_Creations, thank you! I always say I'm going to take lots of pics on vaca and never seem to. LOL
Paula, I'll get pics, don't worry! :)
Vanessa, Joshua Tree is beautiful! I'll check out your interview. :)
ReplyDeleteNicky, thank you! Have a great time in VA!
I personally love the weather we've been having. It makes going to the Renaissance Faire MUCH more bearable. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sock is looking great, and I really like the hair kerchief. I've been looking for a nice little pattern for one and that one is just perfect! Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your trip to Palm Springs!
So enjoy looking at everyones WIP's.
ReplyDeleteGive's me ideas, you guys are so talented.
Love the color way of this new sock. I have heard that the eye of partridge is a good heel to know. Have fun in Palm Springs! Hope you get to finish your hair kerchief in time to use.
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the yarn in the sock!
ReplyDeleteLove the hair kerchief - another one to add to my to do list. The pooling looks great. Somewhere on the net there is a site devoted to pictures of pooling - sad but fascinating!
ReplyDeleteOooh I can't wait to see the kerchief when it is finished - the yarn is lovely! At least the ribbing for the sock is over so you are on to the fun bit! xxx
ReplyDeleteYour sock is turning out really lovely! I adore the colors! I love doing the partridge eye stitch on my sock heels - especially with variegated yarns.
ReplyDeleteA hair-kerchief sounds like a great idea. I hope you have a fab trip. I so love that sock!
ReplyDeleteContessa, I like the weather, too! Well, just not when the dog needs to go out. LOL Thanks on the nice comments. The pattern is really easy!
ReplyDeleteWillow4, thank you!
Autumngeisha, yay! You're back! We missed you. :) Thanks on the nice sock compliments. The heel is actually pretty easy! Just adds a different row to it, adding 2 extra k stitches.
Chris, thank you!
Clare, there is a thread on Ravelry I read every once in awhile regarding pooling where people share pictures of pooling yarn. There's also a few Rav groups I believe.
Another, you know, I don't mind the ribbing, though I will say it's not my favorite part.
Kathleen, thanks! I'm sure there are a ton of crochet kerchief projects out there.
Heather, thank you. I think I like the partridge eye better than the column looking one, though the column one seems like it comes out a little thicker.
Nikki, thanks!
Link for #35 says the page doesn't exist?
ReplyDeleteWhew........after work made more blog rounds and have hit though 41...tis now time for bed...got em all
ReplyDeleteSandy, I take care of the broken links as I work through them. Unfortunately, I got a very late start today and haven't hit #35 yet. Thanks for letting me know.
ReplyDeleteI'm very late this week, as Duane is finally home. I'm happily busy.
ReplyDeleteLove the way your yarn is pooling in the kerchief. Your sock is looking great. I'm really impressed with your making socks in the short time it's been since your started knitting.
I wrote and published my WIPW post yesterday, but forgot to link it here, d'oh! The socks are looking great!
ReplyDeleteDenise, I'm so so so happy to hear Duane is home! YAYAY! And thank you.
ReplyDeleteAmy, no problem! Thanks!
