FO Friday 42

Failure. That's right, this FO Friday is brought to you by F A I L U R E. ::sigh:: You know my cowl? Well, I finished...almost. I just need to do the button holes. The pattern instruction for the button holes are REALLY confusing. Anyone have any tips/tricks/pep talks? I'm using the Pedestrian Crossing Cowl that's a free pattern on Ravelry. So yeah...obviously that means no FO today. :( I was SO excited to finish this too. Oh well, maybe next week!?

Okay, enough of my whining. On to people's awesome finished projects!!!!!

  2. Oh, I don't think failure is the word... Momentary set back more like ;) You'll get there and it'll be worth the wait.

I'm rubbish at button holes, so no advice, but consider yourself pep-talked!

  3. This is my favorite tutorial for buttonholes. I found it and used it when making my totes. A large buttonhole makes a great handle!

  6. I understand the frustration. I was suffering from that this week too. The things that i thought would be done are not. Maybe next week.

  7. Awwww, so sorry to hear that... it'll get done though. I'm having computer issues - no computer during the day at camp and mine is acting up so I'm late on commenting and my post is tiny...

  11. I can't help you with knitted button holes as I have only ever crocheted them. My wife makes knitted button holes but she is somewhat incapacitated at the moment due to having receive two new knees yesterday.

  13. I agree with Sandy, wine is the only solution. Don't worry about no FO today, I'm amazed that you and everyone else seems to always have something to share on Friday.

  20. Here are some more clear (more thoroughly explained) instructions for a similar buttonhole to the one in the pattern:
    http://www.knittingonthenet.com/learn/bh5.htm

An easier buttonhole is a simple two- row buttonhole, explained here:
    http://fionawinning.blogspot.com/2008/09/how-to-work-buttonhole-cast-on.html

Don't get too discouraged Tami! It's one of those things that will seem easy after you've done it a couple of times. I look forward to seeing your FO. It's a really cute cowl. I downloaded the pattern after seeing yours!

  21. Finishes can be few and far between in my house - the making process can be just as important as the finish if you learn something along the way.

I'm celebrating rather a special finish on my blog today!
