Work-in-Progress 95
Hi everyone! I hope you're having a fabulous day today! I must admit, my days are so mixed up from not only the holiday but my husband's travel schedule. He's been traveling a lot for work, so I have been living my life based on when he's home and when he's away. There's no real ebb or flow to it, so I feel like I'm living in this fake world right now. To make matters worse, I have been traveling a bit myself, and will be leaving again on Thursday (tomorrow). I will not be home for FO Friday, but will try and remember to schedule a post so everyone can participate. If it does not post, it's because Blogger sucks. I won't be around for the next WIPW either, as I get home very late Tuesday night. Again, I will try and schedule a post for you all, but I won't have anything to share. Well, I'm sure I'll have a lot to share, but just won't get around to it.
That being said, I DO have stuff to share with you today for WIPW!
This is the pair of socks I started with the May '12 Candy Skein colorway, Candy Skein 1st Birthday. I think they're going to be too small for me unfortunately, but we'll see in the end. They're 70 sts, so I used a size 0 needle which I never do, but the size 1 needle was too big. Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out and if not they'll make a nice gift for someone I'm sure. I'm really happy with how the yarn is knitting up! Don't forget, this yarn is only available until the end of this month (so basically today), so if you're interested in a skein, be sure to purchase one now! I haven't gotten too far on these, as I had to stop knitting on them while my wrist was hurting. Carpel Tunnel mixed with fingering weight yarn and size 0 needles is a recipe for disaster. Oh, I almost forgot! The pattern is Horcrux socks.
This is the shawl I started recently (I think I shared a picture of it last week for the first time). It's using 50% merino/50% tencel yarn from Alexandra's Crafts. I really like the yarn which I purchased at the fiber festival I had a booth at in Oregon last month. I'm hoping to take this on my trip so that I can get to the feather and fan portion of the pattern. The pattern is Multnomah.
That's it for me on WIPW! I'll be posting the Candy Skein June colorway later today! I can't wait to show you as it's one of my favorites! Also, I only have a few more sets of the Ice Cream series minis left! If you're interested in one, you should grab one soon!
For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just
fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't
feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I
just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone

FO Friday 88
Happy Friday! I hope everyone has great plans this week, especially those who gets to have a LONG weekend as it's a holiday! Happy Memorial Day for those of you in the States! We don't have too much planned as it will be a weekend of relaxation as my husband is coming back into town. He's been traveling a lot for work and will be off again next week. We hope the weather shapes up as we want to go to the beach, but it looks like it might be a tad cold. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Today I'm super excited to share my second pair of Hermione's Everyday Socks! This first time I made these, you may remember was back in October or November of last year as a Christmas present for my mother in law. I loved the pattern so much, I knew that I'd be making them again for myself. Funny enough, I love them so much still after the second time that I will make this my go to sock knitting pattern when I want an easy, yet pretty sock. They fit perfect and the color is fun (and bright)!
Materials:
Pattern: Hermione's Everyday Socks
Yarn: Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Orange Sherbet
Needles: Knit Picks Harmony US 1 1/2 (2.5mm) w/ a 32" cable
Notes: No notes for me. I followed the pattern including the same number of repeats.

Let me start this by saying it's 1am, I'm very tired and I almost forgot WIPW! Oops...for those that know me, I have a good excuse why I forgot.
In other news, as I mentioned, it's 1am. I don't have a picture of what I've been working on right now, but I'll get one up ASAP tomorrow morning (my time). I haven't been able to knit a lot lately (since Saturday really) because my Carpel Tunnel in my left wrist has been terrible. :( More on that later, but I'm so sorry to not have had this up at 12am like normal!
ETA: Okay, I'm back and tired! LOL This is what I've been working on!
It's the Multnomah shawl. A few friends of mine who were in Oregon with me all decided to do it since it was named after the Portland county. I'm using yarn I bought on my trip at the fiber show from Alexandra's Crafts! It's 50% merino/50% tencel. I really like it so far!
For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. FO Friday 87
Happy Friday! I'm off to Palm Springs for the weekend for a tiki event! I'm very excited to spend time with my husband, who has been traveling a lot for work, as well as just relax by the pool with good drinks, music and knitting! The socks I was working on for WIPW are FLYING off the needles. I'm already at the heel flap/turn of the first sock and will be picking up stitches tonight (Thursday). I'm hoping to finish one of the socks this weekend and maybe even start the second! I just started these socks Tuesday!
I actually have a few FOs finished, but I'm going to share the one I teased last week and save the Hermione socks for next week's FO Friday. I hope you don't mind. :)
I know a few of you guessed it in the comments last week! I was knitting a Mother's Day dishcloth/washcloth for my mom! Good call! I used this pattern, knitting it with Sugar N' Cream yarn in colorway Rose Pink. The pattern suggests a size US 3 needle, but I went up to a US 4, as 3 seems a little small. It ended up such a great size and my mom loved it! I also gave her a gift bag full of LoLo Bar products! It was a great Mother's Day as I was able to hang out with her all day, including going to a watch party for the LA Kings hockey game. SO fun!
That's it for me today. Have a great weekend!

Work-in-Progress 93
Hi everyone! I'm in an extremely good mood as I've been a Los Angeles Kings hockey fan since 1990 and they're only 2 wins away from the Stanley Cup final and 6 wins away from winning the cup! It's a good time to be a Kings fan! Enough with that, and on to WIPW!
Today I'm sharing a new sock! Surprise surprise! I promise that I will soon be starting a shawl so you can all have a break from my sock knitting. LOL
This is the May sock for my Harry Potter knitting challenge with my hometown knitting group. The pattern is Horcrux socks.
I actually started the socks today (Tuesday) afternoon and they are flying off the needles! I can't believe how much I got done!
I'm using a US size 0 needle, which is very odd for me. I'm a tight knitter (but am getting better at loosening up) and usually have to go up a needle size or two. I started the socks on a US size 1 1/2 and the 70 sts pattern was too big. I then dropped it to the small size sock, at 6 and it was too small. 70 with size 0 seems to work, so I'm hoping the foot fits as good as the cuff and partial leg does so far.
As far as yarn, I'm using the Candy Skein sock colorway of the month (May '12) called Candy Skein 1st Birthday! The yarn is still available for purchase if you're interested here.
That's it from me today!

FO Friday 86
Happy Friday! This is going to be quick because I got out of bed to write this. To be honest, this week I don't know if I'm coming or going as my days have been all screwed up. I remembered to write a post before going to knitting group, as I brought my camera so my friend Miki could take a picture of my sock for me. Yes, I took my sock and camera to Panera tonight as I had no one at home to take a pic for me! LOL And yes, I did get some odd looks as I modeled the sock next to the window so we got natural light. Then I forgot when I got home, as our group normally meets on Monday and not Thursday. Oops. Anyway, at least I'm remembering it before it goes up to post.
As mentioned, I have one sock finished of my Orange Sherbet Hermione's Everyday Socks! I'm not going to post all the details about the pattern/yarn/needles I'm using since I don't have both socks finished. I am, however, hoping to finish the second sock very soon as I'm at the pickup for the gusset. Not much longer!
For those that have been asking, I will have a few skeins of Orange Sherbet up in the shop this coming week for purchase! I'll be sure to let you know when they've been added, along with a few others colors of Yummy fingering. :)
I hope you have a great weekend! I'll be headed to LA this weekend to spend time with my family and also to go to the LA Kings watch party for game one of the Western Conference Finals. GO KINGS!

Excuse my EXTREMELY white (so pale it almost looks blue, doesn't it?) leg! WOWZER! LOL
You can see the texture of the sock better in this pic and though my leg still looks insanely white, it's not AS scary! |

Work-in-progress Wednesday 92
Happy hump day, everyone! I hope you're have a great week. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a lot done this week work wise, as yarn that was supposed to be delivered was delayed. I won't receive it until today, after it being with UPS for 9 days. Nuts, right? Sorry for the rant, but it sucks to pay $40 for shipping on 26lbs of yarn and it take forever to get here. I've had overseas shipments arrive faster! Monday and Tuesday were lost days for me, as I have orders to fill and no yarn to dye. The yarn was ordered while I was still in Oregon! ::shakes head::
The good thing about not having yarn to dye is I was able to get knitting done. I finished the first of my Hermione's Everyday Socks and am working on the leg of my second. I'll share the finished sock this Friday, but this is what I've gotten done on the second. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic. My camera battery is dead.
That's it for me today! Thanks to everyone for the support/kind words regarding Candy Skein's 1st birthday! Remember, you can comment (on both the blog post or Ravelry group) and/or purchase yarn to be entered until the giveaway until May 31st.

FO Friday 85
Happy Friday everyone! Thank you so much for all of the Candy Skein birthday wishes! Be sure to check out the contest if you haven't already.
I'm so close to finishing my sock, but haven't yet, so nothing to share today unfortunately. I'm decreasing the toe, but was so into the LA Kings game last night that I didn't finish it. I'll definitely have something to share next Friday!
I hope you all have a great weekend. We plan to celebrate Milo, our corgi's 3rd birthday which was Thursday. I'm sure will be headed to the dog beach or park, along with a trip to Petco so he can pick out a new toy. :)

Happy Birthday Candy Skein!
I can't believe it's been a year, but I opened Candy Skein's virtual doors one year ago today, on May 3, 2011. It's been such a fun ride and the company has grown beyond my wildest dreams. It's a lot of work, but I wouldn't give it up for the world. I wanted to thank all of you for your support and especially those who have not only bought my yarn, but spread the word and given it great reviews. I obviously wouldn't be where I am today (just a week from driving all the way to the Portland, OR area for a fiber festival) and it's all because of you!
To show my gratitude and to celebrate the first anniversary, I'm holding a contest that runs from today through Thursday, May 31 at 11:59pm PDT. I will then pick the winners the following Thursday, June 7th on the blog and Candy Skein Addicts Ravelry group by a random number generator. Each entry will be assigned a number beforehand. Work-in-Progress Wednesday 91
Hi everyone! It's great to be back and actually writing WIPW close to when it's going to post. The last few have been scheduled while I was traveling to and from Oregon. I had a great time, as I mentioned on Friday, and will tell you all about the trip soon!
I started this sock while on the trip, but to be honest I didn't get much knitting done despite the 18 hour car trip one way. I thought I would be a knitting fool when not driving, but didn't even get a stitch knit on the way up. Nuts, right? I started the sock in the booth at the fiber festival, but for some reason I had a weird issue with it, where there was a small hole in the ribbing despite not dropping a stitch. I pulled it out and started over again on the car right back to California. I got the cuff done, but have done the rest since I've been home. This is Hermione's Everyday Sock in Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Orange Sherbet. You may remember I made the same pattern in October/November of last year for my mother in law. I've been dying to make a pair for myself and so when it came up on my knitting group's queue for our Harry Potter Sock Challenge, I couldn't wait to get started. I think this will be my go to "vanilla" sock pattern from now on. They just fly off the needles. If you're looking for a fun, easy but great looking sock, give these a try! They look great with solid/semi solid/variegated yarns.
This sock doesn't look too different since the last you saw it, but I finished the lace section on the leg and started the heel flap (but the heel flap part isn't in this picture). I did the remaining lace (on the leg) in Oregon. I'm hoping to finish the first sock soon and get going on the second one. I really want to wear these as they are quite beautiful. I'm using Candy Skein Yummy fingering again, this time in the March 2012 colorway Leprechaun Lollipop.
That's it for me today. Be sure to check back on Thursday as I have a big surprise as it is Candy Skein's first anniversary!
Also, for those interested, the Candy Skein store is now open at Candyskein.com! There is all new stock listed, including new colorways. You can also now check out straight from the site! Also, the Effie Socks pattern is now available and I'm hosting a Candy Skein Effie Sock KAL starting May 1-June 31st at Candy Skein Addicts on Ravelry.
