FO Friday 168

Hi everyone! Happy Friday. Let me tell you, I am so excited its the end of the week. This week has been tiring and very strange.

I finally finished my Candy Skein Yummy in Tardis Tart Ombré socks. Yes, that is a Tardis rug I'm standing on modeling them! I started and finished the first sock back in June '13, and then never started the second. After I received my yarn bowl, I thought finishing the second sock out of Tardis yarn would be fitting.

I didn't use a pattern, but instead just knit   2x2 rib down the whole leg and instep. I love the way they turned out, but find it funny that the swirl is different. I used the same size needle, but I'm not sure if I used the same brand. My gauge could have changed a little as well.

Just a reminder, those that are interested, today is the last day to buy the January-March 3 month pack for Candy Skein monthly colorways. It's a great deal at $55 for three different colorways. You can find more details here.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great weekend!

Work in Progress 179

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going as good as you'd hoped! I've been doing a lot of knitting, as I had a group Monday night, Tuesday night and one tonight as well! Such the social calendar! ;) We had a great weekend and I got an awesome old storage drawer cabinet at a flea market in LA! I can't wait to organize my crafts in it, so I will call it a work in progress! How nice it will be to actually have a place for my needles, hooks and accessories! I'll never wonder where all the tape measures are anymore! It came bolted on a typewriting table, but I decided I'd rather have the drawers on my craft desk and the table separate.

I finished the second sock of my 2x2 ribbed Tardis Tart Ombré socks, which I'll share on Friday!

As far as work in progress projects, I don't have many. I'm all about finishing right now. These socks I started in October '12 for a sample of my monthly colorway. I've decided it's time to knit the second one, which was already started. The pattern is Skype socks and is a free pattern on Ravalry. Hopefully I have the pair finished soon!

I also started this last night. It's my February '14 colorway, Broken Heart Tart and will be available on the Candy Skein website later today. I'm going to be doing the Waffle House pattern (also free) from Ravelry, but cuff down. Right now I just started the leg pattern.

That's it from me this week. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday for my FO!

FO Friday 167

Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week and have fun plans for the weekend. We're headed to Los Angeles, where I'm originally from, to go to the LA Kings hockey game outside at Dodger Stadium. I'm super excited! I think it will be an amazing experience, despite being far from the actual game and probably not seeing much.

As promised, I have a finished project!

As always, I can't say enough about this pattern, Hermione's Everyday Socks. This is the 3rd pair I've made, and I actually wore my 1st pair I made in Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Orange Sherbet. This pair was made in Candy Skein Yummy fingering in the January colorway, Confetti Cupcake.

This colorway is only available until the end of the month (unless I have a few leftovers, then I'll put them up on Instagram). Also, I will be closing this set of the 3 month pack for the monthly colorways (January-March) so if you're interested in purchasing it, be sure to jump on it now.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great weekend and I'll see you next week!

Work in Progress 177

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week and had an even better weekend! This weekend was low key for us. We took Milo (our Corgi) to the beach and a pub where we can sit outside with him and eat. Yes, it's been 85 degrees here in San Diego. I think most of California forgot it was winter. I've been wearing tank tips while working and am still hot!

Before I get started, I want to apologize as my pictures will probably be blurry again. I figured out what is going on (or I think). So I've been writing my posts from my phone app while waiting for my husband's train at the station every Tuesday night. Most of the pictures I take from my phone, which I then used to upload to my Flickr and then from there save to my computer and put them in Blogger from there. That's when I used to write my posts from my computer (and sorry for any major typos as it's hard to see/read the post on the phone while writing it). Since the pictures are already on my phone, it seems silly to put them on Flickr and add them to my computer when they can be uploaded directly into the app. Unfortunately, I think the Blogger app makes them crappy resolution, despite them being clear on the actual phone gallery.

I've been knitting a bit lately, or at least it seems I've gotten a lot done. Socks are flying off my needles lately! I finished the Hermione's Everyday Socks in Confetti Cupcake, which I'll share on Friday. I decided that I needed to finish a lot of the pairs that I've started over the past few months/year. Since I got my yarn bowl my husband commissioned for my as a Christmas gift, what better thing to work on than my 2x2 ribbed Tardis Tart Ombré socks that I started in June!

The first sock has been done forever, but just never got around to making the second. You know how that is.

I'm a little further than this picture. I took it before knitting group. I'm now ready to start the heel flap. I'm not following a pattern. I just made the first one as I went and am now trying to remember what
I did for the second.

I decided to make this pattern, Imagine When by Joji for the Yarniacs Self Indulgent KAL. I'm using my new skein of Wollmeise Pure in the colorway Barista. I have to say, it's the first time I've used this yarn, but it's always been on my list to try. So far I'm not the hugest fan. It's gorgeous, don't get my wrong. My issues so far is that it's splitty and is plied so tight that it twists upon itself so much that it knots almost every row. But did I mention it was pretty?

Well, that's it for me this week! I hope you all have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday with my socks FO!

Work in Progress Wednesday 176

Hi everyone! I'm back! Sorry about last week. I was sick again. Can you believe it? I want to know, what in the world happened to just normal every day colds? I don't think they exist anymore, and if they do, they aren't the ones I'm catching. This was my second sickness in 3 weeks, and both times it took me out for a full week. This one was slightly different than the first, which I guess is good? Who knows. Anyway, let's hope I have that over with for the year. ::knocks on wood:: I'm feeling much better, despite having to miss not only a hockey game I got tickets for as a Christmas present, I also missed all TNNA weekend. How much does THAT suck? My husband was also sick (which is how I caught this one. He's the culprit so blame him for now WIPW and FOF last week) so the house pretty much fell apart last week. This week I get to pick up the piece of it and also catch up on the many many orders I didn't ship last week. FUN!

That said, with as sick as I was, I didn't knit for a FULL week. Not a single stitch. Can you believe that? The good news is, there is more to share with you than I had last time because I knit a TON while my husband was sick, but before I got it!

(sorry this picture is really blown out but the light was too close and it looked good on my phone!)

These are my Hermione's Everyday Socks that I started a few weeks ago. I finished the first sock in less than a week and thought I would have the pair done within two weeks. How awesome would that have been? ::sigh:: Sensing a theme here? Anyway, It's still going fast! This colorway is so fun to knit because you never know what color will come next. It's Candy Skein's January '14 colorway, Confetti Cupcake, which you can buy here as a single skein or buy the next three months as a subscription!

I got a gorgeous skein of yarn this week, breaking my 'no yarn between Stitches' rule, but I blame the ick that ran through me when I pressed the buy button. See, I had an excuse. I've always wanted to try Wollmeise and The Loopy Ewe updated JUST as I was on twitter. When does that happen? I had to click the link, right? Then I fell in love. Anyway, I'll post that next week or Friday. As a treat, I'm going to start a project with it for the Yarniacs podcast KAL going on right now, Self Indulgent knit along. Perfect timing if I do say so myself.

That's it for me today! I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday!

FO Friday 166

Hi everyone! I hope you've had a good week. It sure is hard to get back into the swing of things this week, waking up at 6:00 am again. Thank god it's Friday!

I finally get to post the dish cloths I've been working on for Christmas. We gave my mom and dad a big basket of goodies for the holiday (alcohol, whiskey stones, kitchen soap, bar glassware, etc) and I included these.

(sorry the pics are blurry. I'm not sure what's going on with my camera phone lately. I don't have these anymore, so I can't take better pics, but you'll get the idea)

Both patterns are from a book I got from Knit Picks called Hearth and Home Collection by Kerin Dimeler-Laurence and are the Flora Dishcloths. All items are gorgeous from the book and I'm also working on a dish towel for my mom as well from the collection. I'll show that to you next Wednesday.

I used Knit Picks Dishie, the yarn called for in the pattern book. It was the first time I've ever used the yarn and let me tell you, for 100% cotton it was a dream. It makes me want to donate/sell every ball of Peaches and Sugar and Cream in my stash. It's $3.99 a ball, and I got a full (BIG, I think they're 10x10" or 11x11") dish cloth out of each ball, with enough left over to probably make a small dish cloth. I made both of these back to back, and my hands only started aching half way through the second one. Pretty impressive since I was working on them exclusively toward the end. They blocked like a dream. I'll be interested to hear how they wash/dry and absorb. I want a full report Mom (yes she reads the blog. LOL)! Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend this yarn, at least the knitting aspect of it!

That's it for me today. Have a fantastic weekend! We're going to Disneyland on Sunday, as it's the last day for the Christmas decorations and our black out dates are lifted for our annual passes. :)

Work in Progress 175 and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy new year! I wanted to start off this post by thanking everyone for their continued support, not only for the blog but also Candy Skein. It was a crazy year for my family. I promise to be more consistent with these posts in the new year.

Now to WIPW!

This is my January '14 colorway, Confetti Cupcake. It looks a little lighter here than it actually is. I'm using the Hermione's Everyday Socks pattern that is my go to "vanilla" sock design. It's fast (I just started these Sunday night and am on the heel flap) and looks great with crazy yarn.

This is how I'm dyeing the yarn. It's the first time I've tried this technique and it's totally fun, though takes a bit of time because it's so active.
