When I first found out about amigurumi, I went to my local bookstore in search for a good book to learn from (before I discovered Ravelry). There were so many great ones, I couldn't decide! I ended up with the one that looked the best for beginners, yet had adorable patterns, Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet. The book is great for someone like I was, who was honestly new to the crochet world as well as the ami world. I thought I would share with you my first two amis that I made from the book. When I first made these, I was SO proud of them, but now I see that they do have a few issues. In spite of that, or maybe because of it, I love these two.

I was going to post my own comment, but then my three year old walked up behind me, too one look at those pictures and said, "OH! Those are so 'dorable!"
ReplyDeleteYup. :)
Awww, how adorable!!! Thank you to both of you!
ReplyDeleteI love how you took the pictures! The outdoors really add some punch to them! I'm already excited for Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteTami they're so cute!!
ReplyDeleteThis was the same book I bought as my first intro to amigurumi! I did have to look up some online video tutorials though! I was a huge crochet noob! But yes--great for beginners!!!
ReplyDeleteAlea, thanks! I've found the you get much better pictures outside in natural light for amis. Maybe because they're so small?
ReplyDeleteNicci, thanks!
Suravi, it does seem like a perfect beginner book, doesn't it? I watched a lot of youtube videos, and Alea helped me understand how to read the patterns for the cupcake. :)
Very cute! I have bought most of the ami books out there...although I know I can get free patterns, I like books and having them...even have a Japanese one that I can't read!
ReplyDeleteI hope to some day have most of the books out there, as well as learn how to read a lot of the Japanese patterns that have charts. I just can't seem to understand them, even in picture form! lol
ReplyDeleteLOVE those, especially the cupcake! I'm going to have to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda-B. Word to the wise, if you make the cupcake, you need to add a round or two to the top if you have a tight stitch. I've made this cupcake a few times, and each one I need to an extra increase or two.
