Work in Progress Wednesday 208

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing great. I'm sorry this is so late today. I kinda forgot it was Wednesday since my normal Wednesday knitting group met yesterday. I'm so excited for the next few days because I have a group of friends coming to visit, Ruth from Rock and Purl, Rijel from Black Market Wool, Stephanie, who is starting an amazing bag company soon and does the Pick and Throw blog with Rijel, and significant others. We're going to Disneyland on Friday and California Adventure on Sunday, and of course knitting while we're there. The rest of the time just bumming around San Diego, knitting and cross stitching.

I don't have too much to share this week. I'm working on another secret project that I can't share just yet. What I CAN share is the progress of my awesome Armande cardigan!

The picture is a little dark, as I was at a coffee shop, but as you can see I've finished the pockets, zoomed my way up and just finished the decreases. I'm not two rows away from starting the upper body! I adore this pattern so far and it's FREE!

As mentioned before, my husband and I are turning our basement into a tiki bar. (A basement in SoCal...odd I know). Anyway, it already had a wet bar from the original part of the house (the house was built in 1955), so we're just tiki-fying it. We have a TON more to do, but we finished the bar front this weekend. The top will be totally covered as well, but I wanted to show you the work so far (and my mom really wanted to see it. HI MOM!) If you look in the reflection of the mirror, you can also kinda see the side walls...and me. LOL

The side dark pieces are carved by my husband, though it's a little hard to see. Soon we'll be finishing the ceiling, painting the floors and finishing the walls. It's definitely an on going project. I'll keep giving you guys updates if you're interested.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of your week! For fun knitting pictures at Disneyland this week, you can follow me on Instagram at @candyskein, Rijel at @rijelviolet, Ruth at @rockandpurl and Stephanie at @befadee.

Work in Progress 207

Hi everyone! Sorry today's post is a little late! I actually have a new project to share with you today.

I've been obsessing over the Armande by Andi Satterlund. Ever seen I saw the pattern a few weeks ago (though since it was a Knitty pattern I'm sure I've seen it before and didn't remember), I couldn't stop thinking about it. I realized despite having a thousand projects to work on, I needed to cast on. I had some Candy Skein Yummy Worsted from the Miele vest I had cast on. I knew I would wear this more, so I frogged that for this.

Sorry for the crappy picture but it's hard to get it all in picture at the moment. It's a bottom up construction and right now I've built the inside of the pockets and are now picking them up as the sweater grows. This is my first time doing pockets and I love how they're constructed for this sweater! Also, another great thing about this pattern, the button band is built in! No need for picking up hundreds of stitches at the end of knitting the body and worrying about puckering.

I can't wait to get this sweater off the needles and wearing it once it gets cooler here.

Also, for those who haven't seen it, the September colorway, Acai Berry is now available at Candyskein.com!

That's it for me today! I hope you have a great rest of your week.

Work in Progress Wednesday 107

Hi everyone! I know I promised you something different today, but unfortunately I'm still working on the same two projects, as I'm writing this on Monday night. I won't have a chance to get to it Tuesday (when I normally write the blog) due to having a dentist appointment and then driving to LA and back to San Diego again all in one day. It's going to be tiring, let me tell you!

We had an amazing time at Tiki Oasis this weekend. It's always sad when it's over, and this year we had an exceptional time. The end of the tiki season is coming to a close here soon as the weather is starting to change (or I wish it would as it's still too darn hot here!).

Thanks to those of you who started to follow me on Instagram. I try to post as many Candy Skein/yarn pictures as I can, but you will also get a little sprinkling here and there of random pics I take in my daily life. I hope you don't mind!

Also thanks to you who commented on my tattoo Friday. I know some of you are hockey fans and figured you would enjoy it. I even had a few compliments on it this weekend and a guy took a picture of it to send to his buddy in Chicago who's a Blackhawks fan. It's now almost totally healed, the pain is gone, infection is gone and it's starting to feel like my leg again. YAY!

Back to knitting...

I put the Hitchhiker shawl down for the cardigan, as you know, but I got it back out this weekend and worked on it while listening to the live music (before the sun went down). I'm SOOO close to finishing it now, it's my goal to have it done this week instead of finishing the cardigan. I"ll be picking that back up once this is done. I really do love patterns that you just work until you run out of yarn. It takes the stress out of it all!

This is where a photo should be. Unfortunately, I waited to take the pictures until Tuesday evening after I drove home from LA. Today was a bad bad day, starting with the dentist (where I have to go back next week to get an old filling drilled out and replaced) and ending with a blown out tire on the freeway going 65 miles per hour. I'm okay, as is Milo, but didn't feel up to taking pictures as you can imagine, except the hitchhiker.

And the cardigan. It really doesn't look much different from the last time you saw a picture of it. The sleeve almost feels like it's getting shorter, not longer! What's up with that?? I can't believe I have to do another one. Sadly, there are a few areas that have ladders, as the yarn is so thin with larger needles and the stitches are so loose. I'm thinking that it will block out. I'm also trying to make the sleeve strips not jog, but it doesn't look as good as hoped. Luckily, that part will be under the arm and I think blocking will help this as well.

Again, sorry for no picture.

After I finish these two projects, I think I'm going to put out an oldie but a goodie. Remember how my knitting group (my in person knitting group) was doing a Harry Potter sock challenge? That sure has fallen by the wayside for all of us. I've made a few pairs, we've planned others but haven't cast on. I've kind of lost my sock knitting mojo and hope to get it back. I have so many pairs of socks started in different stages that I need to finish. First up, January's socks that I was making for my husband. The pattern is The Weasley Rib and I was using the Candy Skein November colorway, Harvest Sweets. I'm not sure why these fell out of favor on the knitting train (actually, I disliked knitting the pattern with all the purls now that I think about it). I'd love to finish them off for my husband's birthday (which is September 17th) but I don't think that will happen. Boys socks just take SO LONG to knit it seems. We'll see how much I can get done on them! Shhh, don't tell him.

That's it for me today

Work in Progress Wednesday 106

Hi everyone! I hope you're week is going the way you want it to. So, I must say, I've learned a few things this week (or since last Wednesday).

1. Antibiotics are awesome and work pretty fast.
2. My knitting friends are like my family and take care of me when I need it.
3. Roller derby is awesome (well, I already knew that, but wanted to include it anyway).
4. MEN'S roller derby is very odd and also very rough/violent (seriously, who even knew there was men's roller derby?)
5. When it's been in the 90's for a week, even if it gets a little cooler outside, your house stays hot when you don't have A/C.
6. Never dye yarn when your house is already 85 degrees because it ends up 89 degrees and VERY humid.

and last but not least...

7. Knitting long sleeves on a feather weight cardigan with lace yarn takes a REALLY LONG TIME.

As you can see, I've had an interesting last few days. Most of my list is pretty self explanatory and if not, I really don't want to go into any more detail.

So let's bring it back to knitting and number seven. It's now Wednesday. Remember last week when I said that I would definitely have my feather weight cardigan done by this coming Friday, because ALL I HAD LEFT WAS SLEEVES (and to finish the edging)??? Again, #7, long sleeves for a feather weight take a LONG LONG time. Who knew? Seriously, I think it's going to take me longer to knit the two sleeves than it did the body of this stupid thing. It's maybe because the stripes are slowing me a down a little, and to be honest, I'm just a little tired of working on the same project. I normally bounce around (as you know), but this time I figured if I put the cardigan down, I wouldn't finish it. I've pretty much JUST worked on it. This is how much I have done:

That one sleeve sure is pretty, isn't it? ;) The sweater is being modeled on our new to us 1956 mid century modern end table! Fancy!

Now granted, I wasn't really feeling well for a few days and didn't knit very much. It's also been extremely hot (as I mentioned) and can't keep a hot alpaca/silk cardigan on my lap long without breaks (despite it being a feather weight lace cardigan). Still, I thought for SURE I would cruise through the first sleeve, and have a lot of the second sleeve done by now. As I write this, on Tuesday night, the FIRST sleeve is at my elbow. ::sigh:: I will say, I'm still trudging along and hope to have it done soon, I'm just not promising by Friday anymore.  We'll see. :)

That's it for me today! Next Wednesday I promise (actually, let's keep it at hope) to show you something different. I'm sure you're getting tired of seeing the same thing as I am knitting it!

What are you working on?

Work in Progress 105

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're all doing great. I'm doing okay, but man is it hot! I've been cooking on my couch and it's hard to get any work done. My house doesn't have air conditioning, which is okay about 355 days a year, but those extra 10 are killer. This week seems to be the one. It's supposed to get up to the high 90F by Saturday. Today it's around 90, but 85 in my downstairs as I type this. I'm almost nursing a new tattoo, which is being stubborn in the healing process due to the poor circulation in my legs (it's on the inside of my right calf). Let's hope it decides to heal soon!

You don't want to hear about that though, I'm sure. You're here for knitting/crocheting!!

This is my sweater! Since this picture was taken, I cast off the body and have picked up the edging. I decided to do the edging before the sleeves so I can make sure I have enough yarn to do long sleeves. This is the part of cardigans I hate doing, so we'll see how fast I can power through it!

That's it for me. I hope you have a great rest of your week and I'll see you Friday!

FO Friday 98

First off, thank you for understanding about Wednesday. I have to admit, I was so sad that I missed posting and even sadder when you guys pointed out that it was the two year mark. I decided today, despite it being FO Friday, I was going to cheat and share my WIP pictures. I hope you don't mind.

I have two projects active right now, but one I'm working on daily. I haven't shown you my Featherweight Cardigan yet, and I'm very excited to. This thing is flying off the needles.

I'm already past the point of where the pattern starts the ribbing for the bottom as far as inches go, but I want it a bit longer. I'm not a huge fan of short cardigans and my torso is the longest part of my frame. I truly love the stripes and can't wait to wear this! I'm making the 35.5 size, which fits perfect to pull over any kind of shirt. Depending on how much yarn I have left, I might do long sleeves instead of 3/4, but we'll see. I figured this project would be on my needles for MONTHS, but the way I'm going, I'll have it finished in August. I started it on July 20th.

As mentioned, I have this active as well, but I haven't knit on it since I started the Featherweight in Wisconsin. I love how it's turning out, but don't want to pick it up now and lose momentum on the cardi. Once the Featherwegiht is done, I will continue on the Hitchhiker. :)

That's it for me on projects! Again, thanks for baring with my forgetfulness and letting me share my WIPs with you today.

In Candy Skein land, I just released the August '12 colorway, Strawberry Lemonade! You can purchase it here!

Work in Progress Wednesday 102

Hi everyone! As you read this, I'm traveling across the US to Wisconsin! Yes, I'm going there again, but this time Madison! My husband is there on business for two weeks, so I'm flying in to be with him for a few days. I haven't seen him a lot recently, because he's been having to work super late (until 1am every night) so I'll actually get to see him MORE in Wisconsin than I would in San Diego! What this means for you is the next FO Friday and WIPW (I will be home Wednesday, but not to post) will be scheduled in advance. I'm going to try to add pictures at least to the Wednesday post next week, but we'll see what happens.

So for this Wednesday, I have a few things to share.

I've been working on my shawl, but haven't had too much time to knit recently. I've had a bit of work to get done, seeing as I'll be gone for a week. I LOVE how this is knitting up! It's the Rainbow Fruit Chews colorway of Candy Skein Yummy fingering and the pattern is the Hitchhiker. I have this on the trip with me, so hopefully the next time you see it, it will be finished (maybe not blocked, but finished)!

I know this is just yarn, pattern and needles, but it will be the start of the Featherweight Cardigan! I'm so excited to start it. I'm using yarn I got in Oregon. It's Baby Alpaca and Silk. I plan to do 4 rows of the dark teal and 2 rows of the light blue. I hope to cast on my trip and I figured it is a perfect travel knitting sweater since it's super easy!

That's it from me today. I hope you all have a great day!

Work in Progress Wednesday....100

Happy 4th of July to my friends in the US, happy belated Canada Day to my friends to the north! Also, to everyone...HAPPY WIPW 100!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's all say this together...WHOA. That's a LOT of posts. LOL

I don't have a ton to show you, as I finished my Trillian shawl and it's blocking now. I don't want to spoil FO Friday this week! I've decided I'm going to work on one project at a time as I finish them, as I have too many WIPWs and too many projects I want to start.

That being said, I am working on something! I don't know if you remember, but I pulled out my Abalone cardigan that started back at the end of February. I'm making it in SweetGeorgia worsted yarn in Oxblood (which is a deeper red then the picture above shows as this was out in the sunlight and blown out). I LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn as it's just a gorgeous color and has a great ply. It's VERY stretchy and springy for a 100% merino, making a little hard to work with but still great. I thought I had a ton to go on this cardigan, but after working on it a little last night and measuring it, I only have about an inch to go before splitting off for the sleeves. This is a top down cardigan, so left will be the short sleeved arms, yoke (or top of the cardigan) and then the edging around the whole thing. I hope it flies off the needles as I can't wait to try it on! I have to say, I love top down raglan as you can try on as you go. This mystery with bottom up kinda sucks.

That's it for me today! Have a fun and safe 4th of July!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 84

Hi everyone! First off, thank you so much for the feedback on the "Life of an Indie Dyer" idea! I think I'm going to try it in the next week or so. I'm not sure how exciting it will be, but some just think I dye yarn all day, but that's only half the truth! I'll give you an in depth day in the life type journal style blog series. Check back for that soon. :)

Now to WIPW! Sorry my pics are a little dark/blurry, but they were taken with my iphone!

I haven't had much time to knit lately, but my Abalone is speeding along! I've finished the first ball of yarn and am working on the second skein. I love this yarn, Sweet Georgia Worsted. Actually, I love it so much, I bought two skeins of Sweet Georgia Tough Sock this weekend while in Los Angeles at Unwind.

I'm still working on my March socks, but this time I'm actually at the lace pattern repeat. This is two pattern repeats. I like the pattern so far, as the second needle is just stockinette, but the lace repeat is one that doesn't have much of a rhythm to it, so I have to constantly pay attention to where I am. Not an easy pattern to work on when distracted. I do love the way it looks in the yarn though! I'm using the Candy Skein Monthly Sock Club March colorway, Leprechaun Lollipop, which is still available for sale here. The pattern is Devil's Snare Socks.

On another note, I will have a new set of mini skeins tomorrow, The Green Collection for sale! Check back here or Candyskein.com to purchase them.

That's it for me for today!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 83

Hi everyone! I hope your work is going well. I've been working hard this week to finish a very large 18 skein custom order for a mini swap group on Ravelry. It was fun to do, but was tricky coming up with so many new and different colorways. I'm happy to have finished the dyeing for it, and now just have to wait for the final skeins to dry and re-skein them. Not quite a FO, so I thought I would share it with all of you. :)

I started a new project this past week, and actually re-started it a few times as well! Last Wednesday I swatched for the Abalone cardigan! Yes, another cardigan. I'm afraid not only do I have the sock bug, but now I also have the garment bug! All is going well and the project is going super fast. I haven't worked on it much, but I have a nice portion done. It's done it worsted weight yarn, and I'm using Sweet Georgia Superwash Worsted. in Oxblood. I bought it on Thanksgiving weekend last year at Unwind in Burbank. It's not normally a color I would buy, which I think is why I bought it! Don't you feel like sometimes you have to pull a little out of your comfort zone? Funny enough, the yarn matches my couch so well, that sometimes it's hard to tell what's the couch and what's yarn! This picture makes it a little brighter than it is in real life. It's a little bit more of a purple red.

I just hope I have enough yarn. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Surprisingly enough, I actually got gauge by using the size needles recommended for the pattern, US 8s. I think this is the first project that I haven't had to go up a needle size due to my tight knitting. Maybe I'm finally loosening up! One can only hope. LOL

That's it for me for today! I hope you have a great Wednesday and Thursday. See you on Friday for FO Friday!

FO Friday 76- The OHMYGOD I LOVE MY SWEATER edition

I can't explain how excited I am to write this post. Seriously, it has been a long time coming... since October 15th! That's when I started the Rhombi cardigan. Now, I have to get something straight here. I didn't work on it that whole time. In fact, I didn't work on it half of November, any of December or much of January or February. Not that it matters, I'm a slow knitter, but I'm not THAT slow.

You may remember, I started it as a KAL on the Candy Skein Addicts Ravelry group. Not many of us did it, (or finished) but I'm so happy that I continued on. In fact, this is my first ever garment. I'm sooo proud of it. Not only is it my first, it's also knit with Candy Skein yarn and my first major blocking. See, here it is blocking! I stretched out the length, flared it a little and pinned the neck so it hit high on my neck.

Pretty, isn't it? Now, for the FULL pictures! Sorry they are dark and a little green looking. With the flash everything was blown out and so these were the best we could get late at night. I promise to take better daytime pics this weekend for everyone to really see it.

Here I am standing stiff but showing it off from the front.

And the back. I LOVE the diamond! See it!?

And another, this one at a slight angle. I'm in love with my new sweater!!!!

I can't explain to you how happy I am with it and how proud I am! Seriously, I wish I could wear it every day!

Materials:

Needles: Size US 6 circular
Size made: Small
Yarn used: Candy Skein Delicious Fingering in Brain Freeze (it took less than 2 skeins)
Pattern used: Rhombi pattern by Terri Kruse
Mods: I made the sleeves a little longer than the pattern called for, as I wanted to be able to wear a short sleeve shirt under and not have them poke out at the bottom. I also picked up more stitches at the back of the neck, as well as under the arm than the pattern called for.

That's it for me this week!!! Share your FOs!!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 82

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good week. I have been busy busy busy! I haven't gotten much knitting time done, but when I have, I've worked on the sweater...WHICH I FINISHED!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping it will be blocked (and dry of course) by Thursday night, but if not, you will get a picture of it on Friday on the blocking mats. LOL

That said, I did have time to cast on a new sock. That's right...a new sock. I'm so original! It's my March Harry Potter sock with my knitting group. This time we're going to be doing Devil Snare Socks. I cast on a little early, because I was so excited about the Candy Skein March colorway, Leprechaun Lollipop, and it is perfect for this pattern! We decided to go with this pattern this month because it was a lot different than the other HP sock patterns by Erica Lueder. It has a lace pattern running down the front of the sock, and the rest is stockinette. We'll see how it goes. :)

Other than that, I have nothing to show. I'm going to start swatching for my next cardigan, the Abalone, today! I can't wait. I bought the yarn for it on Thanksgiving weekend and it's just been sitting in my stash waiting to become a beautiful sweater!

That's it for me. Have a great day!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 81

Hi everyone!!! I hope you're all doing great. I've been very busy lately, which makes time FLY by. I can't believe it's another WIPW!

I've been working on just about everything here and there so a ton doesn't look like it's gotten done on each piece of knitting, but it has!

I've worked a little on the Time Traveler socks. Here's a picture but you can't really tell I'm sure. LOL Still, I thought I'd take a picture of them since you haven't seen them for awhile. You may remember, this will be my first after thought heel. You can see the orange yarn in the brown stripe that is the placeholder for those stitches.

I've also worked on my Rhombi sweater and I PROMISE you that it will be finished for FO Friday next week. I don't think I can finish and block it for this Friday. I'm super excited and nervous to finish it. I had been putting it off, not wanting to ruin it. For some reason I had this mental block about picking up the stitches for the front and neck. I'll be starting that today! My husband this weekend said, "what happened to the cardigan?" When I told him why I hadn't been working on it, he said, "you just need to work on it. It's your first sweater. If it's not perfect that's okay." So, when we got home from running errands, I got it out and started working on it again. He's right, it doesn't need to be perfect. Some knitters' first sweaters aren't even wearable! :) Since I'm so close to being finished, I won't post a picture so that you can see it when it's finished.

This is a new project for me. As I mentioned on Friday, I cast on new socks! These are my first pair of Cookie A socks. I've LOVED her patterns but they all seem pretty hard since I haven't tried cables yet. I got the book Knit. Sock. Love by Cookie A and realized that the pattern Monkey isn't cables! So I started it with a size US 2 needles. The ribbing turned out HUGE for some reason. I'm sure not if it's because of the twisted stitches. I frogged it and then used a US 1, but now I think they're too small. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Do I keep going? I'm using the Candy Skein January Monthly Sock Club colorway, Arctic Mint.

That's it for me. Have a great day!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 77

Happy hump day everyone! I'm going to keep this short and sweet as I'm still working on the cardigan, but I'm SO close to finishing that I don't want to show you a picture of it and ruin what it looks like with sleeves! I also haven't been feeling great lately, so the last thing I want to do is sit in front of the computer more than I have to. I'm still hoping to show you a un-blocked finished cardigan on Friday, but that might be stretching it. We'll see, as I was unable to knit yesterday due to having a ton of work to catch up on after I took the weekend off. The Rhombi cardigan is also the only thing I'm working on right now (crazy, right?) because I just want to finish! I get too distracted by other projects, so I'm not even peeking at them right now.

Have a great day everyone! Can't wait to see your WIPs!

FO Friday 70

Happy Friday! I'm going to keep this super short, as I don't have anything to share. I've been focusing on my sweater. Last night I did the bind off for the body!!!!!!!! I'm so excited! Now I just have to do the short sleeves and the band for the front/neck. I hope to do the sleeves this weekend if I get a chance to knit, so that Monday my knitting group can help out on how to pick up the front stitches nice and even. I love the way it fits so far, so I don't want to mess it up. Who knows, maybe I'll have a finished cardigan to show you next FO Friday!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 76

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a great time with my knitting group on Saturday. We traveled to Long Beach (about an hour and a half drive) to go to the Alamitos Bay Yarn Company to see the Unique Sheep Truck Show. It was so awesome to see all of the yarn sets, as well as the gorgeous shawls made from it. I didn't want to spend too much money while I was there, so I decided not to buy any Unique Sheep, but I did buy one skein of Lorna's Lace Shepard Sock. I couldn't resist. Last time we were there, I had wanted a skein, but had spent so much money at the fiber festival we had gone to beforehand, I didn't want to splurge too much. This time, that's all I bought, but I'm super happy with my purchase. I'll take a pic of it later so you can see how pretty it is. :)

Now on to WIPW!

Sorry for the very dark/awkward picture! I just wanted to show how long it was in the back.

I haven't been working on the socks, because I am now determined to finish my Rhombi sweater. I am LOVING the way it fits. I have about another inch to do on the body, before then working a garter stitch bottom for about another inch. After, I'll move onto the sleeves and finally the collar. I can't WAIT to get it finished. Doesn't it look pretty good? For those of you who are new to WIPW since I last worked on this, I'm using Candy Skein Delicious yarn in Brain Freeze. What I love about this sweater (at least right now) is that it will be warm enough (it's REALLY warm yarn) if I wear a long sleeved shirt under it for the mild winter days, but perfect for spring and chilly summer nights.

That's it for me this week. Hopefully I'll be finished with it in the next few weeks to share on FO Friday!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 67

Happy Wednesday! So this past weekend, I hoped to get a TON of knitting done...and I didn't. I am so behind on my Christmas knitting and my Rhombi, I'm freaking out a little bit. We'll see what I can get done this week and this coming weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Okay, I have to say, I've been bit by the hexipuff bug. Now, I don't plan (right now) to even attempt the Beekeeper's Quilt, but I'm making these little guys. I've made two so far (as you can see above), one in leftover Knit Picks Imagination in the colorway Frog Prince, and the other in Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Brain Freeze. Can you tell which is my first, and which is my second one? LOL, it's amazing how much better I got from the first to the second! I'm using Judy's Magic Cast On, and closing them with the Kitchner stitch. I wish I had more time to make these, as I can see how addictive they can be. Mine are coming about to about 2.5" from point to point, using a size 5 needle. I even went to Ikea to buy a jar with a lid this past weekend for them. Yes, I know...sad, isn't it? How into it am I, or will I be when I get free knitting time? I'll have a Candy Skein announcement tomorrow in regards to the craziness. How many of you are addicted to this crazy pattern? Check back tomorrow if you've lost your heart to hexipuffs!

I'm still working on my Rhombi and it's going good. I'm just in the long, boring part as I mentioned before, but I'm plugging along. I hope to finish the body soon, so that I can move on to picking up the sleeves. It fits great (hopefully I can get a picture of myself wearing it soon, but by the time my husband gets home from work it's very dark.). I can't wait to be done and wear it!

Last but not least, my MiL STILL. I know, I know, I'm STILL working on these. I haven't had a chance to knit much of the second sock, but at knit night last night, I finished the leg and am about to start the heel flap. I'm not following the pattern on the leg repeats, as I only did 10, instead of the 18 that it calls for. Of course, I forgot this last night at knit night, I forgot that and just kept happily knitting. I ended up having to take out only one repeat today, thank god, but frogging isn't helping my stitch count at this point! Oh well, all is good. I hope to be able to do the heel flap and turn tomorrow while I watch my nieces. I need to finish these socks this week, no if, and, or buts!

That's it for me today. What are you working on?

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 65

Hi all! I hope you had a great and safe Halloween if you celebrated! We handed out candy and watched Corpse Bride and Shaun of the Dead. I LOVE both of those movies. It was fun overall and we actually had a lot of Trick or Treaters which is unusual. Anyway, it's late as I forgot it was Tuesday (I write this the night before) because my Monday night knitting group met tonight due to Halloween.

Here's what I'm working on:

My Rhombi is coming along great. It fits awesome so far and now it's the boring part of knitting the body. I have a few inches under the arms, so not a ton, but I'm plowing along. For those of you new, I'm using Candy Skein Delicious yarn in the colorway Brain Freeze and it's for the Candy Skein October through December 15th KAL. I love the construction so far. So easy, though I'm a little nervous about picking up all of the front and neck stitches. The sleeve holes look a little odd in this picture as they're overlapping and squished.

These are my mother in law's Christmas present. I love this pattern, as I mentioned last week, because it's so easy to remember, but looks great. It's the Hermione's Everyday Socks pattern which is free on Ravelry. I'm using Candy Skein Yummy fingering in colorway Royal Rock Candy, as mentioned last week.

I also wanted to say, for those interested, I'm hosting a sock KAL/CAL for the month of November. I figured I have to do a bunch of socks for Christmas so it would be awesome to have other people working along with me to push me to finish. The only requirement is that you use Candy Skein yarn. You can use any pattern, and I suggested a few in the KAL thread (linked above) that are awesome patterns and free. I'd love if some of you who've wanted to buy yarn, or who already have a skein with no projects attached to join along!

Anyway, that's it for me! I hope everyone has a great day. Happy knitting!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 64

I'm going to start by apologizing as this is going to be a VERY quick WIPW for me. I had jury duty today (I hear all the Americans groaning as you read this...luckily no cases went to trial so I'm done!), then had my crochet meetup so I'm so behind. It's late and I still have a ton to do tonight.

Anyway, enough with excuses.

I'm very excited to share my progress on the cardigan for the Candy Skein KAL! On Monday night I got to the point where I had to put the sleeves on waste yarn. I'm now on the body where it's just stockinette until the last inch of the sweater before picking up for the sleeves and collar. Unfortunately, I'm guessing it will slow down now, as it's kind of the boring part. We'll see though. I'm SUPER proud that I'm still totally on gauge for both row and sts.

When I checked on the jury website, I saw that knitting needles were considered weapons, so I ALMOST didn't bring my knitting. I decided to give it a shot. The worst they could do is tell me to put it back in the car. I got lucky and brought little sock knitting needles (circular) and had no issues. I was able to start this sock, which is going to be my mother in law's Christmas present from me. I'm using Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Royal Rock Candy and the pattern I'm using is Hermione's Everyday Socks. It's going great so far. I'm on the pattern repeat for the leg right now, but only did one so far.

That's it for me this week! What are you working on?
