Dyeing for Fun Part 4

Have I mentioned how much FUN I am having trying different techniques with my yarn dyeing? I have improved the tools I'm using and this is the first of the new batch. I think I'm starting to get this down to a science, and I can't wait to get my new order of dye-able yarn this week! (And for you yarn dieters, I don't think that should count as part of my yarn diet purchases since I didn't purchase any yarn for myself. Just yarn to dye and then sell, plus some new needles. What do you think?) I have so many colorways I want to try out and will share with you throughout the coming weeks. Things are moving forward with working my way to selling the yarn you see in my dyeing posts. In the next few weeks I should have a logo and a website. I can't wait!

Colorway: Carrot Cake
Fiber content: 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon
Weight: Fingering/4-ply
Yardage: 462 yards
Unit Weight: 100 grams
Care: Machine Wash/Tumble Dry Low
Dyed with: Wilton's Icing Dye

  1. Lovely colourway. I agree- yarn for selling does not count

  2. Countess Ablaze, thanks! I went into it not knowing how the colorway would turn out, but I'm totally happy with it. It's so hard to have all of this beautiful yarn lying around and know I can't use it! LOL

Halfpint, thanks! I'm happy you agree that it doesn't count for the diet because, I am super itching to make an order for myself. LOL

  4. Affiknitty, thank you! I believe I am getting better with each skein, understanding the chemical process side of it, instead of just using pretty colors to make pretty yarn.

  5. Kathleen, thank you! It is awesome, isn't it? It's an amazing feeling to really understand something fully. I have a long way to go to understanding it all, but the colors and yarn are really starting to cooperate. I know exactly what you mean about fully understanding crochet. I've hit that point recently as well.

  6. That is really pretty yarn. I'm taking a roving dyeing class tomorrow (Saturday). It really is fun to apply color to fiber, isn't it?
