Work-in-Progress Wednesday 28

I'm working on the same projects this week, but have made a little progress. I finished helping my sister move this week, which was great to get through. It was something that I knew was coming, but was dreading it beyond belief. Like everyone, I hate moving. I'm glad she's the one and not me, but it's still not fun helping. I'll hopefully have time for some knitting soon, which I'm excited about. Editing is almost done and then I'll be plotting my new book.

Last time you saw my monster, Petunia the Patio Monster by Rebecca Danger, it was just the start of the magic loop. I must say, going through the process, magic loop is a little slow moving the needles back and forth, but I still love it. I didn't have to worry about the other needles as I would with DPNs or double circs. As you can see in the first picture, I finished the body area. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. There are a few areas where the the yarn piled a little, but huge a huge deal. I've learned SO many things with this project so far and will learn more with the arms and legs. First, the magic loop. Second, the 3 needle BO, which I'm so proud of, I shared with a second picture. I didn't have a 3rd US7 needle, so I changed the back needle to a US6 and used the 7 not on the cable to do the actual BO. I think it turned out great. One thing I'm disappointed about, I hoped to finish the project for FO Friday, but I need US7 DPNs for the arms/legs. I hope to get them sometime this week. :)

I haven't done too much work with this, but it's to the point where I'm just working sc all the way up and not increasing/decreasing. I'm making the pattern up as I go. You may remember, it's going to be my manuscript holder when I'm editing away from the house. I hope to finish this soon, but sc is kind of slow.

I've worked a little on my scarf, but again, it's a garter knit scarf so not too much to show. I hope to really crank through it this weekend, as I'll have a lot of relax time on my hands. :)

  2. Magic Loop is scary. I've tried it and I end up getting messed up. I use two circs now and I am completely happy with that. I know...eventually if I want to knit two socks at a time I'll want to properly learn ML but...I need to knit that first sock before I worry about it ;-)

  7. CraftyCripple, thank you!

WonderWhyGirl, I thought it was scary at first and it took me like 8 tries to get it right. I'm not looking forward to starting another magic loop project, but ones it's started I love it.

Gertie, thanks. I totally understand the hate of magic loop. I didn't mind two circs but hated how the 2nd always hit me when knitting.

    Stacey, thank you!

CloseAcademy, thank you. I got this ball of yarn as a gift and love love love it so I was waiting for the perfect project.

Sam, thank you! You'll have a blast with the book. So far it's really easy yet fun. Check out her Ravelry group too. It's so fun to see everyone's finished monsters.

  11. Dutch Hollow, thank you and welcome to WIPW!

Susie, thanks! I'm actually feeling really comfortable so far with knitting. I even picked up a dropped stitch on my monster the other day and it doesn't look too bad!!!

Affiknitty, glad to hear someone else likes the magic loop. It seems to get more negative than good comments. I'll share more about my writing soon probably. :)

  14. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a monster take shape. Great job with the magic loop and three needle bind off. Your improvisation with the needles is impressive, too! I like the yarn that you are using for the manuscript holder.

My honey is in the hospital, so I catch up with everyone eventually when all settles down, or I have a hard time sleeping alone.

autumngeisha, isn't it funny how the monster doesn't look like anything but it still puts a smile on my face? LOL
