I'm so excited because I'm getting close to opening shop. There is still much to be done, but so far so good. I've been working really hard with the website, dyeing the yarn, as well as even building a light box to take better pictures. Thanks to Alea for finding the link on a DIY light box. :) I'm really happy how the pictures turned out, but think I'll continue to experiment, getting a brighter bulb to see if it is better or worse for picking up the colors. I'm also trying to become more familiar with my camera's modes. Here is one of my latest dye jobs. Enjoy!
Colorway: Sour Apple
Fiber content: 100% Merino Wool
Weight: Lace Weight
Yardage: 880 yards
Unit Weight: 100 grams
Care: Hand Wash/Dry Flat
Dyed with: Wilton's Icing Dye
I love seeing your hand-dyed yarns. Dyeing is such a fun pastime, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe green is grogeous, can't wait to see your website
ReplyDeleteThe yarn looks gorgeous. I think the lightbox is working really well, but you are right you need more light or you need to tinker with the camera a bit. I have a bright cloudy day setting on mine that warms the colours and brightens them a bit. I only found it after using the camera for two years, but it does work if you have quite dingy looking photos.
ReplyDeleteI wanna take a bite of that sour apple it is so yummy looking!
ReplyDeletesuddenexpression, thank you!
ReplyDeleteHalfpint, thanks. I hope to have the website, and the company up this coming month.
CraftyCripple, thanks for the advice. My camera has the cloudy day setting as well. I'll try that one. These pictures were with the white balance setting and a 60 watt bulb. I'm going to run today and get a brighter one. When using the cloudy day setting, does it get close to accurate on the actual color of the yarn?
Dina, thanks. :)
Your posts really make me want to get into dyeing!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! I love how every time you post, your pics and our yarn look just a tiny bit more polished. Amazing job!
ReplyDeleteCrochetBlogger, thank you! You should try it!
ReplyDeletePaula, thanks. That's a huge compliment. :)
Love that green! I need to get back in the dyelab, maybe this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you're nearing your launch! It's going to be great, if that Sour Apple colourway is any indication.
ReplyDeleteLily, thank you!
ReplyDeleteMoonie, thanks. I can't wait to launch!
