Hey guys! Sorry I'm late for this but just realized it's Wednesday. I'm so hard at work preparing for the Vista Fiber Fiesta, I'm not sure if I'm coming or going. That's the problem for working for yourself, days of the week don't really matter. Sadly, I'll be able to keep track of time better soon as hockey season is starting. I usually know what day it is when, as I keep track of when my teams are playing.
Anyway, I have an update on my Skull Shawl (the pattern is called Jolly Roger shawl). I've started the lace skull border and I have to say, so far this has to be one of my favorite projects I've ever made for myself.
Isn't it awesome!? The whole border is in the Pumpkin Spice. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in Pumpkin Spice and Oyster. Depending how it looks after the border, I might add a few rows of Oyster garter stitch to it before binding off.

Hi everyone! I hope all is well with you this week. We're just plugging along and working hard. We didn't do much this weekend. I think I've mentioned before but we're turning our basement into a tiki bar. It's a ton of work, but so fun. We worked on that a bit this weekend and hung out with a friend that was in town from the Bay area (San Fransisco).
I've been working a ton of my secret project, but I've also been doing a little knitting. As you can see, I'm speeding right along on my Jolly Roger Shawl I'm still insanely in love with it. I just moved it to a 32" cable as it was super tight on the 24". I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in Oyster and Pumpkin Spice.
I've also been working on the Sockhead I'm making my brother in law for Christmas. It got thrown to the side for awhile, but I'm back at it again. I'm on the decreases, so I figured it's almost an FO. I'll post it soon.

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good morning so far. I'm happily taking time out this morning to knit, which I haven't done in a really long time. It's great to be excited about knitting again. I was going through a slow period of time, and I think it's because of summer. It's been so hot here, I haven't wanted to knit. Now I have a few projects I'm dying to cast on and one I love right now that I'm knitting.
Remember me posting the two skeins of yarn last week for a Jolly Roger Shawl? Here it is so far! I'm in SERIOUS love with it. I'm striping every 8 & 9th row. Then I'll do the skull border in the orange and hopefully have enough gray to weigh the bottom down with a few rows. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in Oyster and Pumpkin Spice. I soooo want Fall to be here!

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday. I hope you all had a great weekend and the first part of this week. I know I did as I got to watch my hockey team, the LA Kings, hoist the Stanley Cup for the second time in three seasons on Friday night. It was a heck of a finish, as was the whole playoff run. It was made even more special because my husband and I traveled up to LA and watched the game with my mom and sister across from the arena with hundreds of other fans. It was pretty magical to be in that atmosphere. It was great to be back in my home city, as we haven't visited in awhile, so overall a great weekend, which was then topped off with the Stanley Cup parade on Monday.
Due to all the excitement and traveling in the car late at night both there and back, I didn't get much knitting time, but I have made progress on my two projects that I'm actively working on.
The first is the Sockhead for my brother in law out of Candy Skein Savory fingering in colorway Oyster. I'm about 3 1/2-4" into the body of the hat. I haven't decided how tall I want to make it as he isn't a very slouchy hat kind of guy. I'll have to have my husband try it on to be a good judge. I have plenty of time to finish, as it's a Christmas gift for him.
Next up is the Diffraction shawl I'm making for my mother in law for Christmas (it's never too early to start your Christmas knitting) out of Candy Skein Savory fingering in Oatmeal Cookie and Plum. I wish the camera could capture the depth of these two colors. Once I am finished I'll try and see if I can get better pictures of it, as these are just with my iPhone. I'm loving this pattern, and despite the insane number of stitches and the insane number I still have to increase, it's going crazy fast. A friend of my, Regina, is also making one and she just cast off after only two weeks. I think it definitely helped to have someone else work on it at the same time.

Hey guys! Sorry I'm late to the party today. To be honest I forgot it was Wednesday! My husband worked on Sunday, and my Monday knitting group didn't knit this week so I don't know if I'm coming or going. HA! I hope you had a great weekend. We did (despite my husband working). We spent a few hours at the San Diego Zoo, as we're lucky enough to be members and live minutes away from one of the best zoos in the world. We then hung out with a friend at our local bar/restaurant. It was awesome because they had Adventures in Babysitting playing, so I just happily sat and watched while knitting and eating/drinking. Can't beat that! Sunday I worked, since my husband did, and then we watched the hockey game. As a bunch of you know, my favorite hockey team (I'm a die hard fan) is the LA Kings. They won on Sunday to earn a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals. To state that I'm excited for game 1 today would be a huge understatement!

I'm sorry to say I don't have much that is exciting to share today. I finished my second Sockhead hat, and what did I do? I cast on another. Yes, this is my THIRD straight one. I'm loving the simple knitting and quick finish of this project. This time I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in colorway Oyster. I'm making this for my brother in law in Chicago. I figured it's never too early to start Christmas knitting, right? It will be November/December before we know it! I can't believe it's already June!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and are having an even better week. I have a new project to talk about today! Seriously, I need to stop starting new stuff and focus on finishing, but alas...
I started this hat just the other day. It's the Frais hat. I'm making the 21" which is what I normally make, but it's pretty big, so that's a little disappointing. I like my hats snug but comfy. I'm still having a great time knitting it, and am learning new thing. The brim of this hat is doubled over and seamed to itself! Pretty cool and the first time I've done this. It's a pay patten, so can't go into details, but you'll have to check it out. I think if it was going to fit a little snugger, I would love it, because I love my ears nice and toasty.
Some of you might be wondering what yarn that is, or colorway anyway. It's a new colorway to the Candy Skein line, and this particular version is in Savory fingering. The colorway is called Candied Licorice and is light pink with areas of black, white and purple. Cool, eh? I sold a few skeins of it on Sunday on the website, but will have more in both Savory and Yummy fingering Thursday. Be sure to check Instagram and/or Twitter for the latest breaking Candy Skein updates. :)

Hi everyone! I hope you're doing well. I'm back from vacation and recharged. I got a little bit of time to knit in the car on the way to Las Vegas, but that's about it. I'm in a mode where I just want to finish projects, so that's my goal
First up is this project, the Strathcona scarf by Jane Richmond. It's from the Island collection. I love this pattern so far and this yarn. I've talked about it before, so won't say too much. I'm on the second half of the scarf but have a bit more to go. Luckily it's a mindless but fun knit so hopefully it will go fast. The yarn is Skinny Bugga! by Cephalopod Yarn in the Sochi colorway, but an Oddity version of it.
This is the very start of the second sock, plus the second sock of my Socks on a Plane. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering. Sorry the picture is so yellow, but it's the only way the colorway comes off semi-true to life. When taken normal, the purple shows as blue. This is a great (and free) pattern. :)

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week. Mine is going okay so far. It's extremely hot here (it was in the 90s yesterday and will be again today!) so it's been a challenge to get all of my work done in my studio before I start to get too hot. My studio really heats up when I have three pots going at the same time of almost boiling water and no air conditioning. The good thing is, since I have to speed through the work before the late afternoon hits, that means more knitting time!
Last week you saw the start of my sock, but I actually ripped it back and started over. I realized it was too big, despite using the normal number of stitches I usually use (64). I made the toe narrower, going down to 12st per needle, and then only increased to 60. That seemed to work out great, and it was easy to do since the only patterning on the sock is the side cable.
I'm actually a little further now than in this picture, but as you can see I've started to travel up the leg. As mentioned last week, this is my first toe up sock. I'm glad I'm doing it, but I think I like the process and feel of cuff down better. The positive is I won't feel like I have to shy away from any sock pattern due to the way it is constructed. I don't want these socks too tall, so I've added a few more cable repeats up the side and then will start the cable with ribbing today if I get a chance. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering, so I have 400 yds to play with, and I want to make sure I have enough left over to make a square for my sock blanket.
As far as new things, these are also new to me needles. I'm using the Addi Sock Rockets for the first time. I will say, I love them and want a few more. The cables are amazing and the needles are sturdy, but light with sharp tips. I have no complaints at all and these will be my go to needles from now on I think. It's funny because I don't care for normal Addis but it makes me want to try them again to see if the company has improved them since last I worked with them.

Hi everyone! I hope you're having an awesome week so far. I have two projects to share today, one being my Rondelay that I'm still working on, and the second is a toe up sock!
As mentioned, this is the Rondelay pattern. It uses one skein of yarn and I'm using my Candy Skein April '14 colorway, Atomic Jelly Beans. I'm still loving the pattern, though haven't gotten as far as I'd hoped on it. I just finished the second portion and have a third left, plus a small border. I really do love it!
My second project is a new pair of socks. This is huge for me because I've never done toe up before! I decided to pick a pretty easy but popular pattern that wasn't plain vanilla but didn't have too much going on. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering and knitting the Socks on a Plane pattern that's free on Ravelry. So far so good, though I did the cabling that I have so far at knitting group and kept losing track of my row count. Oops! Sorry for the blurriness of the photo (and my hand in it) but it was the only picture that the color came through at all. Most pictures made the yarn look all blue. It will be interesting to see how I like toe up. It seems big and blocky right now. I'm doing 64 sts which is what I normally do for socks. Hmmm...

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and Black Friday (for those in the US). I apologize that I didn't have FO Friday up. To be honest, my days got all messed up and forgot it was Friday with the holiday and I had family in town. I promise the post will be up this Friday and I'll actually have an FO to share!
I'm plugging along on the project you saw last week, but not too much so I didn't take a picture of it. I'm dividing my time between two Christmas presents so each gradually grows. This is my first time using Knit Picks Dishie yarn, a 100% cotton, and I will say, it's so much better than Sugar or Peach n Cream. My hands don't hurt while knitting (or at least as bad) and the yarn is just a lot silkier. The stitch definition isn't great, but when is it ever with cotton? I'll be using this yarn for one more project coming up. :)
This is a new project to the blog I believe. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in Poppyseed. This is a fingerless glove I'm making for my husband (hopefully he isn't reading this). He takes the train to and from work, and his commute is long. I thought he could use these waiting for the train in the morning and night this winter. Funny enough, I was at knit group last night working on this as he texted he was freezing waiting for the train. We all had a good laugh. If he only knew. ;) This is Dustland Mitts by Stephen West and it's a very fast and fun pattern. I've only really worked on it a few hours and I'm almost finished with one mitt/fingerless glove! I only have the thumb left! It's pretty baggy on me, so I hope it fits! (Sorry for the bad picture!)

Happy Friday! It's been a tough and tiring week in my house, so we are VERY excited that tomorrow is the weekend. I'm looking forward to spending time with my husband this weekend, just hanging out at home. We don't see much of each other during the week, now that he has to travel quite a distance for work each day.
Believe it or not, I actually have a FO!
As you know, I've been addicted to making the Hogwarts Express Shawl. If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen these pictures, but I wanted to share them with everyone here as well. Thanks to those who helped me on Instagram last night in the bead decision. I have these blue beads, and also tan ones and couldn't decide which I liked. Almost everyone picked the blue so that is what I went with. Not the best picture, but you get the idea. Right before I typed this, I finished putting the eyes on all 29 owls.
I'm also still working on my cross stitch Halloween sampler. Unfortunately, I won't be finished by Halloween, but I will keep working on it until I finish it. I love this pattern so so much. This pattern is by the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery.

Happy Friday! Today is a special FO for me, as I finally get to talk about my (finished) secret project I've been working on the past few months. Some of you may have seen the news a few days ago on either the Candy Skein Addicts Ravelry group, or my Instagram account, but thought I would share it here, especially since I plan to have more posts about the process.
I am so so so excited this day is finally here. Candy Skein Savory Fingering, which
is new to the CS line, is in the September shipment of Yarnbox.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Yarnbox, they are a
subscription box that is delivered each month (they have several
different subscription plans available). You don’t know what yarn you
will be receiving each box, so it’s super exciting! Each box contains
three skeins of the yarn, patterns, candy and sometimes even coupons for
the yarn in which you received.
Here is a picture of the yarn that you could receive in your box. One
the left is new colorway, Black Currant, and on the right is Grape
Soda.
Savory Fingering will be available soon on the website in these
colors, along with tons of the usual suspects. It is a 80% merino
superwash/20% nylon that has an unbelievable bounce and ply. In my
opinion the ply is very close to MadTosh Sock. Each skein is 400 yards
and will be $22 each.
I just wanted to thank you all for being so patient over the past few
months while I had to stay quiet about this, and also for understanding
when the shipments were a little slower, the site not fully stocked,
the monthly colorway a little late this month and mostly my posts being speratic here, while I tried to get the
Yarnbox order out the door.
So thank you! To everyone here for being so kind with lovely comments and still hanging in there despite not giving you much.

As you can see, not much knitting has happened on my end of things. Not much crafting for that matter! I didn't have time while in Los Angeles (we had a great time and Neil Gaiman is so funny and charming!) and since I've had to hit the ground running at work. This is the Hermione's Everyday Socks in a new Candy Skein yarn, Savory Fingering, which is a 80/20 blend.
Speaking of, I'm making a new set of mini skeins featuring 7 of Candy Skein's new colorways: Watermelon, Foil Wrapper, Poppy Seed, Bananas Foster, Tardis Tart, Sugar Snap Pea and Grape Soda. The sets will be available for sale this weekend and will start shipping Monday!

Holy smokes, 150 Work in Progress Wednesdays. That's incredible, right? I never thought when I started doing this I would still be doing it 150 weeks later. Crazy.
This week I'm working on a new sock. It's my go to pattern when I don't want to do something fancy but want a little more than a regular vanilla sock. It's Hermione's Everyday Socks and this is the 3rd time I've made them. I'm making it because I'm testing a new yarn I'll be carrying for Candy Skein soon! It will be called Savory Fingering and so far I like it! It has a twist similar to Tosh Sock and is a 80/20 merino superwash/nylon blend. I figured I'd make a pattern I"m really familiar with so I can compare this yarn to Yummy fingering. Don't worry, Yummy fingering won't be going away, this will just be a new option!
