FO Friday 27

Today is Friday, and another week I didn't finish anything. I had hoped to finish the Chroma scarf, but was unable to knit pretty much all Wednesday and Thursday. I've been hard at work dyeing yarn and working on the website so that I can open shop in the coming weeks. Since I don't have an official FO, I decided to cheat. Remember me saying we cleaned our deck and replanted the area? I thought I would show our finished product. Everyone can use a few flower pictures on a Friday afternoon, especially if it's as rainy and dreary where you are, as it is today in San Diego.

This is the view looking at our deck from the pathway that surrounds the pond. You can see all the wonderful things we have planted. As far as edibles, we have an artichoke plant, a lemon, lime and even an orange tree. Unfortunately, the poor orange tree (on the far right) is struggling to survive after all of the rain we've received this winter. I hope it pulls through since we've had it for 6 years and the past few seasons it's produced amazing oranges. We then have two hibiscus' (the really tall thing in the middle is a red one, and behind the orange tree you can see, but we have a yellow one), four gardenia plants (in the long boxes up front, they are about to bloom I believe. Yes Mom, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. I know you're allergic). Then we have a mix of flowers and other plants.

This is a closer pic of our lemon tree. Look at the size of our lemons! LOL I can't wait until they ripen so we can make fresh lemonade and use them in tiki drinks.

This is the ledge outside our kitchen window. Don't you just love the tulips? To the left of those are cute little flowers for the hundreds of hummingbirds we have in the area. If you look closely through the window, you can see the huge jug of white distilled vinegar. I must have been dyeing yarn while I took this picture! LOL

A close up of the beautiful tulips

And the lily! Can you get any more spring than lilies and tulips?

I had to add this pic because the color is amazing, isn't it?

  3. We had a lovely sunny day yesterday, so I too was taking photos of pretty flowers. The blue sky is so rare, I had to take advantage of it.

  8. Halfpint, thanks! The lime tree is new as of like a week ago, but already has blossoms on it so I have high hopes for that one. :) I hope your citrus trees pull through.

littleredcraftingcorner, thanks! I can't wait until the lemons start to turn yellow! LOL

CraftyCripple, can't wait to see your photos!

WonderWhyGal, thank you. I'm ready for spring as well, despite living in a warmer climate.

Leah, thank you. There is something about tulips that just make you smile, isn't there?

Andria, thanks! I love spring, too.

Sandy, wow, still that cold where you are? Hopefully it warms up soon. You're welcome. :)

  10. Lily, I agree, calla lilies are sooo pretty. I wish they lived longer. That's the sad thing about most spring flowers.

  11. Wow, the jealously burning within me has left me with little to say. Just yesterday I said to girlfriend "I so love spring in Calgary... Do you know when we'll see any?"
Seriously though, your yard looks lovely. Even if I lived in the right climate I am hopeless with plants. Yours make everything look so bright and alive.

  13. Love the spring flowers-- my crocuses are just starting to peek out, though this morning they had dusty little snow-caps. Sigh.

  14. Nikki, sorry about that! LOL, but see, I'm SHARING it with you! Spreading the sunshine and the cheer. ;) And thank you.

Rhonda, thank you! Be sure to show us once yours have bloomed.

Aimee, thank you! I hope your crocuses make it through the latest snowfall.

  15. Beautiful flowers! I am gonna be in so much trouble when my Dad finds out that I managed to kill the amaryllis bulbs he gave me that my grandfather planted over 40 years ago! Forgot to bring them in to the garage and the Indiana winter was not very kind.

  16. As you know, I'm an ardent supporter of FO Friday cheating. Your deck looks fab, and your flowers make me miss CA a ton. Love the tulips!!

  17. The flowers are beautiful! I'm envious of your lemons - I bought my husband one of those little lemon trees for our anniversary one year. A lemon tree in Cleveland turns into a sad site very quickly, so no lemonade for us :>(

  18. Ooh, I am so jealous. Our tulips are just breaking through the soil now, and definitely no citrus growing here :( Love how full and colourful you've made your patio :)
