Happy Friday everyone! Let me tell you, my family needs the long holiday weekend to recuperate from last weekend. My husband and I (and even Milo my corgi) haven't been feeling well this week. I hope to just rest, relax and knit socks! I also want to thank all of you who ordered yarn this week from Candy Skein! Wow, you made my week! I had several orders so I've been busy going back and forth to the post office.
Okay, on to FO Friday. You have to promise not to laugh at the pictures though. Remember, I was in Palm Springs so I look all hot and sweaty as it was 95 degrees and we were in the sun all day. It was awesome to knit there (at Tiki Caliente, a tiki convention), as I got a lot of attention from it. I even met a girl who crochets and knits, but unfortunately, she doesn't live in my area, but her boyfriend does, so hopefully I'll get to meet her again. I finished knitting on Saturday morning, which meant I worked on the hair kerchief Friday evening before the sun went down. The great thing was, I was able to wear it both Saturday and Sunday and one lady even stopped to say she saw me knitting it and thought it looked great. :) It made me proud, even though it was a silly little project. It helped me meet people, which is good, because I'm pretty shy in person and don't feel very comfortable around a ton of people I don't know. Anyway, here it is! Please excuse the cup within a cup within a tiki mug. Also my weird 'I'm trying not to squint' expression. Also, I got tanner, I promise. LOL
Edit: I also forgot to mention that I crocheted the ties (which I added to the materials used now. Can you tell I wrote this post in a hurry?) because I could crochet them in about 2 minutes and knitting would have taken forever.
Materials Used:
Knit Picks size US 7 US needles
Size 5.00 crochet hook
Lily Sugar'n Cream (Bronze Blue colorway)
Bad Hair Day Kerchief pattern

A tiki convention? How fun! And the hair kerchief looks great. Hope you get to rest, relax and knit this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute!!! And fancy that - you are shy in person, yet you host us all each week - isn't the internet great!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your long weekend and get plenty of rest. We have a Bank Holiday on Monday too. I'm taking the children to my mum's tomorrow for a few days - but we have so many things on our "to do" list I think I'll need a break when I get home!
Happy weekend
xxx
looks great, I might have to dig out some cctton and try one
ReplyDeleteOh it is lovely, my daughter would love one and I expect I will be giving one of those a go soon...
ReplyDeletehope you have a lovely restful weekend x
It's a great project and perfect for vacations. I have to admit, while on the field trip with my daughter this week, almost every parent wanted to know why I wasn't knitting on Alpaca. tehehe, because I love socks just as much as I love Alpaca ;-) It's great running into other fiber artists while traveling.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had an awesome weekend :-)
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, that kerchief is super cute and so are you. I don't know what you're talking about cause I don't see any weird expressions. Great job!!!!
ReplyDeleteAin't it something how knitting (and crochet) helps us connect. I met knitter and non knitters on the train this week and all I was doing was scoping out a new stitch pattern for next week's F.O. Fibre Artists UNITE!!!!! LOL!!!
Not a silly project at all. I think it's a fab headband. Quite fancy making one for myself.
ReplyDeleteYour hair kerchief is great and it looks fantastic on!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, it looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! The tiki mug is great too! ;-D
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun weekend. That head scarf looks super cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the tiki cup and the kerchief! Glad I am sorta back into the swing of things, have missed having anything (or more aptly, the time) to post about.
ReplyDeleteI need to make me a kerchief. It might actually keep my unruly hair down better than a headband would.
ReplyDeleteShannon, yep! A tiki convention. There are a few around the country throughout the year actually. The next one is in San Diego called Tiki Oasis. It's live bands, vendors, symposiums, etc for 4 days. Such a great time. Thanks, have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSarah, have a great time this weekend! I hope to just sit and watch the Doctor Who marathon. LOL Thanks for the compliment. :)
Halfpint, you should! It's super fast, easy and useful. I'll be making another one soon. I forgot to link to the pattern earlier, but just added it.
Unconventional Us, I forgot to post to the pattern earlier, but just under the materials used list! It's super comfortable!
WonderWhyGal, isn't it so awesome to run into people like that! It's so fun. Even a few ladies that didn't knit or crochet were interested.
Vivianne, thanks!
Nicky, thank you! That's awesome all you were doing was looking for new stitch patterns and got that great response! It's amazing how addicted us fiber art ladies are. LOL
Miffy, you should! It's fun to make and wear!
Karen, thank you!
Delusional Knitter, thanks!
witchyknits4ewe, thanks on both! The tiki mug was limited to that even only, so kind of a collectors item.
Pearlin J, thank you! We did have fun.
Dina, thanks! Yes, and we've missed your regular posts!
Calophi, you should! I just posted the pattern link as I forgot earlier. The only issue is trying to tie it without getting hair snagged in it. LOL
I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd the kerchief looks great!
I love it! Bandanas are so cute! I never thought of knit/crocheting one :P
ReplyDeleteHeather, thank you on both accounts!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, thank you! Funny enough with the whole outfit! I didn't plan for it to completely match the kerchief I was working on! The purple tank top and khaki pants were the exact color in the yarn, and the nail polish was exactly the blue of the yarn. Kinda freaky.
Crystal, thank you! You should make one yourself!
I love the kerchief. And I also love the Blueberry Sorbet order that arrived safely yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with your photos! :) And the kerchief is super cute, I'm not surprised you got so many comments on it! I think I may make one myself, very soon (I know I said that before).
ReplyDeleteI know how it is to be shy around people (in the past I've used the term "debilitating" on myself in this regard). Knitting/crocheting in public is a definite ice-breaker. So is having a kid. Thank goodness for these things or I might never actually talk to anyone! (I know it's hard to believe I'm shy since I'm anything BUT on the Internet.) :p
Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend and I hope everyone feels better.
CrochetBlogger, YAY! You got it already?! That's freakin' amazing. So glad you love it! I secretly hoped that one didn't sell so I could keep it for my very own. LOL
ReplyDeleteContessa, thank you and you should make one! It took no time at all. Isn't it amazing how one can open up on the internet!? Once in college, I got a lot better about my shyness, but I still don't like large groups of people I don't know. Even at 32 years old, I still have to work on not hiding in a corner by myself.
I'm all for crocheted details. It's fast indeed! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cute kerchief, and I love that knitting makes you new friends! I hope you're feeling better this week
ReplyDeleteI hear you about being shy. I'm okay around friends that I know, but if you get me in a large group of people I don't know, I clam up.
ReplyDeleteThe scarf looks really cute!
A Tiki convention? Just what is that? Love the yarn for the kerchief.
ReplyDeleteYou're so stinkin cute. I love the tiki mug. And I love that about knitting or crocheting in public. It definitely is attention-grabbing which is weird but essentially good.
ReplyDeleteJuleeQue, thanks! I'm not sure why anyone would take the time to knit the ties, unless they didn't know how to crochet. It's just so much easier.
ReplyDeleteGirlAnachronismE, thanks! Isn't it awesome how great the fiber community is!?
venividivoom, thanks! Yeah, being shy sucks, doesn't it?
Chrisknits, yes! A tiki convention. Well, this one was small compared to some. Basically it's a great time of live music, hanging out, drinking tiki drinks, vendors and relaxing in the sun!
mutantsupermodel, ha! Thanks. My husband collects tiki mugs, so we have a ton around the house! It's always fun to go to events that have exclusive ones. Yeah, I'm just getting over my fear of knitting in public alone. I'm fine with my group, but alone is weird. It draws a lot of attention.
That looks great! I should make one for me, because I'm always having a bad hair day. I hope you get a weekend of rest and knitting like you want!
ReplyDeleteDid that scarf pattern come in a box full of different knit patterns? I have made two that look just like it! Nice work :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I love knitting in public because someone always asked what I'm doing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fiber Arts Friday!
I've been told I need to "be more assertive." I've heard that since kindergarten. I'm now (also) 32 and I STILL hear that phrase. I'm fairly convinced I'm stuck in my ways, but yes, thank goodness for the Internet! At least I have friends *somewhere.* ;)
ReplyDeleteYour kerchief looks so cute, it looks great on!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out really cute!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute scarf! Thanks for posting the Rav link.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have had some time to kick back and relax this weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely Kerchief!
