Work-in-Progress Wednesday 42

I hope everyone is having a great week! I had a great weekend, as I mentioned in my post yesterday, and even had some fun on Monday. We decided to come back from Palm Springs Sunday night instead of Monday morning, which almost made Monday feel like a free day. My husband took it off, thinking we'd still be out of town, so we went and had a nice breakfast and then went to see Pirates in the movie theater. We hardly EVER go to the movies because it's so expensive, so it was a real treat.

I apologize because this will be a boring WIPW for me, but it will be a fun FO Friday! I finished the hair kerchief and will share it on Friday in all it's glory, as long as you ignore how bad I look in the pictures. LOL

So, on to WIPW:

The good news is I have gotten further in this sock! The bad news is, I made a few weird mistakes, but luckily won't mess it up too much I don't think. I really like the way the yarn is knitting up, so that's nice. I'm just decreasing the gusset stitches at this point, so it's all downhill from here. I took the pic with it stretched over a drinking glass here in this pic, so excuse the weirdness of it.

This sock may look familiar, but it's because you may remember my finished one from a few Fridays ago. Yes, that's right, I'm making the SECOND SOCK OF THE PAIR. WOOT!!! So far so good, though I've just barely cast on.

Since it's late, and I want to knit a little more tonight, I'm going to wrap it up here. Have a great day everyone!

For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!

Please remember to use the new link to your post from this week, overriding the one that Mr. Linky saves from the previous. Thanks!

  1. I love both of the sock yarns you are using and I really like the texture of the first ones.

Somehow I didn't realise you sold yarn too so I'm off for a browse........

  2. It must be so lovely to be able to use your own yarn for knitting. I bet you feel even more creative.

  3. I agree with Stitched Together, it must be so nice using your own hand-dyed yarn for projects!!!!!

  4. Love the colours in the bottom sock, I shall look forward to seeing it grow.

  8. Yeah for a "free" feeling day!

I really like the coloring in that first sock. I can't wait until you finish the pair and sport them.

  10. I love the darker sock (first pic). The colors are really nice!

  11. I have a yarn that looks somewhat like the yarn in your bottom picture. It's also a sock yarn but I don't want to make socks. I used to do that all of the time with sock yarn-- buy one skein of awesome and then not do anything with it. *pout*

  12. I love the texture of the first sock - is that just the colourway on a stocking stitch or are you using a textured stitch? Looks great.

  13. Good for you for dodging Second Sock Syndrome! If I made socks I know I would always be afflicted by that malady.

  15. This is my first time linking up. Thanks!
Your socks are looking great. Second socks always take me a long time. There's one sitting on the table staring at me now. :-)

  16. Carole, thank you! I do sell yarn, but I haven't for long. I opened my shop on May 3rd.

Stitched Together/Nicky, it is awesome! I love seeing how the yarn knits up, because I never really know when I'm dyeing them. It's very hard not to keep each skein though.

Miffy, thank you! I hope to have it done pretty soon. ::fingers crossed::

Paula, I helped you out. Have a great time at BEA, lucky girl.

Karen, it is fun! I breathed a sigh of relief when I started it, knowing I won't have second sock syndrome. LOL

    Danielle, thank you!

Dutch Hollow, thanks! Aren't "free" days the best, especially when they're unexpected!?

    Unconventional Us, thank you!

    Sarah/Cris, thanks!

Mutantsupermodel, thanks! I have a ton of yarn like that. I just have no clue what to do with it but I love it and pet it often. LOL

Clare, it's mostly just the colorway. The top part is ribbed (or bottom in this pic I guess) and the other long part is the heel flap that I did in eye of the partridge (I think that's what it's called). Thank you.

Julie, that was what I was most afraid of when I wanted to make socks. I'm glad I'm free of it (for now).

Sandy, thanks. I hope you're able to get your computer issues fixed!

Janet, welcome to WIPW! Thanks for linking up and the compliment.

  17. Love the different colours of your two socks. I don't think you can get bored between those!

  18. The socks look great! I love that you're using your own dyed yarn too :D Maybe someday I'll get to buy some of your yarn to make myself some socks too ;)

  19. The socks are looking really good! :) Congrats on starting the mate for your previous sock. Having a complete pair feels oh so good.

  20. Great to hear that you had a fun time. Both socks are looking terrific, love the colors. It is very smart of you to cast on for the second sock right away, too.

  21. Your socks look wonderful. I think the idea to use the glass to show off the sock is great. I look forward to seeing them finished.
Thanks for your comment on my blog today. I missed you too!

  22. Back! And your work looks lovely! Good luck on the second pair of socks.

  23. Both your socks are looking good. Yay, for starting the second one.

  24. Putting the sock over a drinking glass... now, that's getting creative! :o)
Thanks for sharing your projects, I can't wait to see the second sock of the pair complete.

  25. Nikki, not bored at all! The only problem is since I only have one needle of each size, I have to finish the black sock before I can go further than the ribbing of the colorful sock. LOL

SillyLittleLady, thanks! It is fun to see how it's knitting up. I hope you do get a chance to buy some Candy Skein yarn!

Contessa, I can't wait to have two. I may never take them off. LOL

autumngeisha, I knew if I waited to cast on the second, I'd just let it sit! LOL

Kathleen, thanks! The sock is in such an awkward area right now, I needed something cylinder to show it off. LOL

    Shannon, Thanks! :)

    Unforth, thank you!

    Denise, thank you!

  26. Love both of those sock yarns, very cool! Stretching over a glass isn't weird at all! It shows off the stitches.

  27. Delusional Knitter, thank you! Luckily you can't see the glass, since it would look pretty silly. It has a bunch of little baby yellow chicks on it. LOL

  28. Are you making the socks in two different yarns? In the second picture, the yarn seems to have more pinks...

  29. Thanks so much for letting me join your link-up. I'm your latest follower, too! HOPE you have a great weekend!

  30. Does anyone know people who do a WIPW for like, home improvement stuff? I have a friend that has a blog for all the stuff he's been doing around the house, but he has no motivation to blog. And I thought, if he had something like this he could sign up for and definitely have people come and cheer him on in the comments, he might be more motivated.

Maybe he could just sign up here anyway? XD

  31. Marie, actually they are two different socks that will have separate mates. I have the first of the bottom one done, and the top one is my first of that pair.

Deb, welcome to WIPW! Hope you have a good weekend too!

Calophi, unfortunately, I don't know of any WIPWs for home improvements. I'm sure there are a few out there if you search though! I try to keep this WIPW for fiber arts.

  32. Just to add - I've read lots of people's blogs today but having a bit of a problem commenting on some - great stuff though!!!
