Sorry I'm just posting this, but if you haven't heard, San Diego had a massive blackout that ran through parts of Mexico into Orange County and parts of Arizona even. We have been without power since 3:45 pm on Thursday, and only had it restored a few hours ago while sleeping. Let me tell you, I was seriously confused when I was awoken by the fan and hall light turning on. I thought it was the sun rising REALLY bright. That being said, it was fun having no power for a night. My husband got to come home early, and we got to hang out among tiki torches and candles. LOL
Edit: Just heard we're in energy conservation mode, as well as having to boil our water in our area! So not cool!
Now all is well and we're back on track (kind of, see above edit). If you have a post from earlier in the day, please add it to the Mister Linky, despite it being a little later than usual. I don't have an FO to share today, as I haven't knit since WIPW.
Share your FOs!
Phew, glad to hear you're ok, I was worried when your post wasn't up this morning, knowing how crazy things are being in the US right now (wasn't sure where you were from though!)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're ok! I don't think I've ever made it this far up the list before. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad all is OK and that you have your power back.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear everything ok, even to hear that you had a bit of fun :) Not often people go a while without using something electrical these days :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad it was only a power outage. I was getting worried something worse happened. Glad you are back on the grid!!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Haven't no power for so long is rather weird when nothing else is wrong! Usually you lose power because of another issue/natural disaster. Everyone was just hanging out in their backyards/decks for most of the night. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm in northern California and we've been watching the great San Diego power outage unfold. Glad your power came back, tho it was probably not the best of time. Amazing one person's mistake can cause such a huge impact.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're ok and got your power back! I have to admit, I do quite like random power cuts, they can be pretty fun :)
ReplyDeleteThe last time our power was out for an extended amount of time, I realized I didn't have nearly enough candles ... now I don't feel guilty at all getting my pretty-smelling candles. They're important in an emergency and make the house smell great! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWow! I keep dreaming of voluntarily turning out the power (for all but the fridge) and spending an evening like yours, but to have lost it for an overnight would make me too anxious to sleep. While living in the heart of NYC, anyway; in rural upstate it never bothered me as much. Kudos to your and Mr. Candy Skein for taking the time to enjoy your evening.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm super excited to have my first FO Friday item. :)
I'm so glad everything is ok with you! I always liked power cuts at my parents, with the fire on and candles. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad all is OK, I was worried about you! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're ok and have power again. My sister came for vacation this summer and we spent a few days at my grandfather-in-laws cottage. Her trip happened to coincide with a major thunderstorm that knocked out power to the cottage for three days. I was kind of fun except for no fridge and having to haul water from the lake for the toilet. ( we bought bottled water for drinking due to the circumstances)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are ok, boil orders are not fun, but have to admit that no power is sorta fun.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are alright. It was strange not seeing your post this morning.
ReplyDeletei hope your weekend gets better. it's got to really suck without energy but just get out that knitting, it will keep your mind off all that junk. :o)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that everything is more or less okay . Hope that everything is back to normal soon ...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're OK and have power again :-) How's the stuff in your fridge/freezer ?
ReplyDeleteRelieved to hear power is back up!! I was watching the LA news and boy, it was a wreck in Orange County. :p
ReplyDeleteI have to say I'm surprised it came up as early as it did -- when they said it would be "the next day," I was expecting like in the afternoon or evening.
Have a wonderful weekend! :)
Glad you made the best of your no light/power situation.
ReplyDeleteContessa, so did my husband! He was bummed when it came back on and that meant he had to go to work today! LOL
ReplyDeleteWow, that's crazy! I was wondering what had happened and didn't get a chance to get online again until now... glad everything is okay!
ReplyDeleteI thought about you when I saw the news this morning. I'm glad you're okay and hope things will be back to normal with all the utilities very soon.
ReplyDeleteWhen your FO Friday post wasn't up, it gave me a good excuse to go drool over the latest Candy Skeins -- so beautiful, Tami! I am thrilled that you're getting magazine coverage -- congratulations.
Glad you made it through okay. Blackouts can be fun as long as they are not in winter up here. Things get a little scary when it's -20C and there's not heat.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend.
LOL! My hubby was bummed we weren't included in the outage for the reason yours was bummed they got the electricity back so "early."
ReplyDeleteI pointed out that with the weather being the way it was and considering how far inland we are, we were blessed to have had our power! Plus I don't know how the little one would have liked the dark. :p
Sorry to hear about the blackout. Hope all is ok.
ReplyDeleteGlad the power and the air conditioning is back on!
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad :( Glad the power's back on!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back in business! Between your blackout and my one-day trip out of town, I'm finally getting my link posted here. The Halloween Treat Candy Skein FO did go up early Friday morning, though.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! I was wondering what happened to you! Glad you're okay (besides the boiling the water part...)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much everyone! We're back in business with the water!
