FO Friday 71

As you can see...no cardigan. I actually have to hang my head in shame, because not only is there no cardigan, I haven't worked on it since Wednesday. As mentioned Wednesday, I haven't felt great and working on something that I could possibly screw up that I worked so hard on seemed like a bad idea. So did I work on my January Harry Potter socks instead you ask? Of course not!

I'm a bad bad knitter. That's right, I did knit but on something new. Yes, I am burying my head in my pillow with shame right now. I needed to get my sock mojo going again, and my Felici self striping yarn has been calling to me. I mean, it's TIME TRAVELER self striping yarn. AND...And....and....

Like any sane (or should it be insane?) knitter would do...I cast on for a pair of vanilla socks in the yarn. Sad, but true. Who could blame me? I even had to go to the DENTIST yesterday morning! I wasn't going to bring a project I had to think while knitting! I do promise that NEXT FRIDAY I will have my Rhombi cardigan finished. Really this time!

That is my confession for today and all I have for FO Friday 71. I hope you all have a lot more exciting stuff to share and have a great weekend!

  1. Oh no! The dentist? On top of not feeling well? I'm sorry. I do hope you feel better soon. In my mind, the fact that you cast on for a new project instead of finishing the cardigan is only a sign that you really are a knitter, and not anything to be ashamed of. : )

  2. You gotta knit what you gotta knit!

  3. We have all done it, cast on a new project, when we think we should be finishing off another one. If neither of those projects have immediate deadlines, it doesn't matter. Don't beat yourself up!

  4. I think you're very wise not to work on such a precious wip as your cardi when the mojos not there. Better to leave it to the day when you're motivated! Besides, vanilla socks aren't really a competing project, are they? They're more like a meditation!

  6. I'm thinking the new colorways of Felici might come out in Feb. I think that's when they came out last year. It's crazy how much I like that yarn and I really haven't knit with it yet! I better get started!

  7. I know I've certainly been at that spot!! :( (In fact, I was there--a LOT--while knitting the FO I posted today.)
You're not feeling well, so I don't blame you for not wanting to work something you've invested such effort in. . . I was totally looking forward to seeing it, but it gives me something to look forward to for next week. :)

I hope you feel better soon! Are you enjoying the NHL All Star stuff?

  8. Don't worry, if you see how many stuff I say I'm going to finish by whatever date and never do because I start something else - you would feel that you are a "good good" knitter.

  9. Mindless knitting always helps. And if anyone says differently just stick your fingers in your ears and go LA, LA, LA. It works for me. Hope you feel better soon.

  10. It's ok. I was knitting a plain vanilla sock and cast on for a plain vanilla sock.

  11. Hope you feel better. I know I'm sick when I don't even want to knit.

  12. Well, don't beat yourself up too badly, we all have to take a creative hiatus now and again. You'll pop right back into the zone in no time. Feel better soon!

  13. Aww I almost didn't have a project because I cast on a vanilla sock last night too but today I forced myself to sew the jumper up or I knew I would never do it so don't beat yourself up!

  14. Hehe, I do that too. Vanilla socks are just so handy to have on the go! They're always my backup knit for when I can't quite decide what to cast on/get on with :) Shame about the cardigan, but I can't wait to see your socks on Wednesday!

  15. In my opinion, it's never a bad idea to start a new project with yummy yarn that is just calling out to you!! I think it's an absolute must :o)

  16. Starting a new project is so much fun. I don't blame you. :-)

I start them all the time when I shouldn't.

  18. The dentist hope you are all better! I have not been able to join in for wip or fo. Its been a non knit non crochet time. So its now Sat morning and my yarn order was just delivered, so if I get the time over the weekend I plan to cast on for at least two things. And do one more practise session for my ripple blanket before I start. Happy weekend to all x
