Work in Progress Wednesday 128
I haven't had too much knitting time lately, as I've been working on my cross stitch and savoring the fact that hockey is back! I've also been keeping up on one of my new year hopes, to read more. If you want to read a good book, make sure to check out Libba Bray's first book in a new series, The Diviners. It's awesome. I can also recommend Beth Revis' trilogy that starts with Across the Universe if you're into light sci fi.
Anyway, you aren't here for book recommendations or to here me talk hockey. You want to see what I've been working on!
As mentioned last week, I started my Color Affection shawl for the Yarniacs Podcast self indulgent KAL. I'm using Candy Skein Sweet Fingering (coming soon to the website!) and I'm so excited about it. The yarn is so soft and drapey with a beautiful shine to it. I just started on my second color, as you can see. The first color (or main color) is Fudge Brownie, the second is Brain Freeze. Can you see the yarn just shine?! That's because it's 50% merino/50% silk. I can't wait to get a little further into the stripes to see how they really work together.
Speaking of the Yarniacs podcast, right now I'm giving a 15% off discount with the coupon code Yarniacs through the month of January over at Candy Skein. It's off your total purchase, not just one skein! Enjoy!
For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!

I'm sure your color affection will look great! It is such a wonderful pattern. Have a nice Wednedsay. RegulaReplyDelete
Love the shine to your color affection. Beautiful! I'm also excited that hockey is back, my four year old seem to be really into it this year. So fun!ReplyDelete
Really like your colours so far! Been wondering how a drapey yarn would look in Color Affection so can't wait to see yours all finished (whenever - no rush!). I'm trying to be very regular with my WIP Wednesday posts, yours were quite inspiring last year so thanks!ReplyDelete
Beautiful colour combination, the yarn looks so soft. We have heavy snow here in the U.K. Thanks for the book recommendations, I'm reading The Seamstress by Maria Duenas, I've only just started but it looks promising. Deb xReplyDelete
I love the colours, it looks like it will be really soft and cosy.ReplyDelete
Really love the colour combination your using for the colour affection and looking forward to seeing how it looks further into the project.ReplyDelete
If you'd like some winter, it's come full force in southern Virgina. I'd be glad to share! Last week was 70's this week 23! Those are such pretty colors!ReplyDelete
Those are lovely colour choices, will be interesting to see what you do with the two colours as you go along :)ReplyDelete
It's glowing beautifully - can't beat silk for that!ReplyDelete
Those colors look SO PERFECT together! It's going to be lovely!ReplyDelete
Ooooh, pretty colors!!!ReplyDelete
The yarns look deliciously wonderful - I love the colors!ReplyDelete
Love the combinations of colors!ReplyDelete
Love the colour contrast you've chosen, it looks great!ReplyDelete
It really is nice to have hockey back isn't it? I didn't think I missed it much until I turned on a game the other night and now I wonder how I went without!ReplyDelete
Ooh, that teal is gorgeous and will go so well with that wonderful brown. Good for you on making something so beautiful for yourself. Amazing how southern California and the Bay Area have polar opposites for weather.ReplyDelete
First, I LOVE the colors of your color affection. The brown is great with the teal!ReplyDelete
Second, I made an oopsie and posted my name twice in the linky :-( Sorry!!!
The Brain Freeze is gorgeous! Do you think this yarn would hold up as socks?ReplyDelete
Hi Katie! It will! It's 50% merino superwash and 50% silk, which would act as the strength, must as nylon does in most sock yarns. I don't have the yarn up on my site now, but will very very soon (I'm hoping next week), but if you're interested, I can dye you a skein of any colorway you'd like at no extra charge and invoice you before then. They will be $28 each for 438 yards. Just let me know!Delete
