FO Friday 49

Hi everyone! I'm feeling a little under the weather, so I'm going to keep this pretty short. I wanted to share this, even though it isn't knitting/crocheting. As many of you know, I got a sewing machine for my birthday last year. I really haven't done a ton with it, other than purse linings. Since Tiki Oasis was coming up, and I had some tiki fabric lying around, I knew I wanted to try my hand at a box bag. I bought one awhile ago on Etsy, and it worked perfect for Tiki Caliente a few months ago. It not only held a small knitting project, but also my keys, phone and a little money.

I got down to work using this pattern. It seemed simple at first, but not having any experience following a pattern, I was a little lost until I called a friend and she explained it to me. It turned out a little lopsided, but it worked great! The pattern really is easy, once you make one and learn what each part makes on the bag. I can't wait to make another one. I know I could improve my work 110%. I'm sure if you have experience sewing, you could make this in no time flat! I can't remember who originally shared the pattern during an FO Friday, but I just wanted to say thank you! It fit everything I needed that weekend, including a shawl!

I think these make perfect gifts for not only the knitter/crocheter in your life, but anyone! Kids can use them as pencil cases/crayon holders. I think they're perfect as a small clutch type bag, or even a makeup bag for travel!

  13. Great bag, very functional! I wish I had a sewing machine, sewing everything by hand means I don't sew much haha

  14. The bag looks great! I've had a sewing machine for several years now, but still haven't took the time to learn too much. It's definitely in my future plans, though. Feel better!! :)

  16. That's on my list of things to sew, just need to make the time for it. But it's so much easier to just pull out the knitting rather than haul out my heavy machine!! Love the fabric!

  25. The bag is great! Love the tiki theme. I recently tried making a similar bag but using a different pattern, and it turned out kinda wonky. I might try the one you linked next time - the instructions look really clear! Feel better soon. : )
