Work in Progress Wednesday 141

Hi everyone. I hope you're having a great week and that the weather shapes up for those of you who are still getting snow in the northern part of the Midwest! Unreal!

I have a few things to show you this week, a few new things in fact.

As you may remember from Friday, I finished March, so I thought I would show you the little bit of April I've worked on, as well as how it's all laid out so far on the sampler! For those asking about cross stitch patterns last week, I'm pretty new to cross stitch and don't know too many books/mags to recommend. I buy all of my patterns from Etsy and The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery! There are amazing Etsy cross stitch patterns out there.

This is my Sweet Summer Rays shawl for the KAL we're doing. It's knit out of Candy Skein Sweet Fingering in Foil Wrapper. So far it's going great! I think I'm on line 25 of the pattern if I remember correctly.

I obviously just started this tonight. This is my first time trying out two at a time socks, so I decided to just do something basic. I'm doing a 3x2 rib using a size 0 (I didn't have a 40" cable in anything else I could find that would work) needle. I normally use a 1.5 needle so I cast on 70 stitches to allow for the smaller needle. We'll see how it goes. Next time I might just try a 32" cable. What does everyone else use when doing two at a time? The yarn is Candy Skein Yummy fingering in Tardis Tart Ombre.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday!

For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!

  5. The sampler looks great already. Thanks for your input regarding the pattern. I'll take a look on Etsy, hopefully I can find something challenging for my mum-- she's a very experienced cross stitcher/ embroiderer!

  6. I haven't crossed stitched in ages, but always enjoyed it. What size ada are you using? Or are you? Love the blue variegated for the socks, good luck with the new method, hope it works well for you. The shawl looks awesome. Pretty excited, I got here actually early in the day for a change, haven't managed that in quite a while.

  9. It's been a while since I've knit socks two-at-a-time - I usually get the longest circ I can find, but I'm guessing a 32" would work about as well as a 40"! Can't wait to see your progress, love the cross stitch and Foil Wrapper shawl, too!

  10. for two at a time I usually use a 40" circ, but 32" should be too tight, especially if they're a US 0. I'll look forward to seeing how the colorway works up!

  11. Everything's looking good! The cross stitch is super cute, I learned how to do it when I was a kid but haven't really touched it since.

    Loving your shawl!

  12. I use one 40" and do magic loop for 2 at a time socks. Works like a charm! My first time I did tow up, but I like the look and feel of cuff down so I'm doing that way instead. It gets a little tricky when you only have one needle when it's time for the heel but I just held the sts on a dpn until I was ready for them again. If you have to circs then you shouldn't have that problem though. Good luck!

  13. Everything is looking hunky dory. I'll be interested in the progress of your socks. I have the book "2-at-a-time socks" by Morgan Oakes but haven't made anything from it yet. Intention is to make socks as Christmas gifts but the year runs out before I get started. Your shawl is coming on well.
