Candy Skeins in the Wild

It's been a week since my launch of Candy Skein and I wanted to thank those who have been so nice in all the great comments I've received and also the ones that have placed orders! You are all so awesome, seriously.

As I mentioned in my original announcement post of Candy Skein, my friend and crochet meet up partner, Sharon (check out her awesome Amis and patterns at Ami Amour) was kind enough to let me tag along and share her table at the Queen Bee Craft Market. I was so excited just to get the Candy Skein name out there. I didn't have any expectations going in, as it was a craft fair where people are usually there to buy finished items, not skeins of yarn. To my surprise, there was some interest and I even sold a few skeins. Even MORE exciting, one of the great ladies who purchased one of the skeins cast on right away and added her project to the Candy Skein Ravelry page . I can't wait to see how it knits up, as it was one of my favorite colorways (Blueberry Cheesecake).

Here are a few pictures from the event. Excuse the people behind in the pictures that are still setting up their booths, but we took these before the event started. Anyway, as you can imagine, it was awesome to see all of the yarn together in one place on display.

This is me, standing behind all of the pretty yarn. See how I have one side of my shirt statistically folded over? That's because I am a huge klutz and not only did I rip the skin off my knuckle, but somehow ended up getting blood on my shirt before I realized I hurt myself. It seriously never fails. You can't take me anywhere without me hurting myself in some way. In good news (as I do love this vintage shirt which I call my zookeeper shirt), the blood came out!

Here is a closer picture of all the yarn together. PRETTY!

And here is our booth. Unfortunately, I didn't get a great picture after Sharon put out more of her amis, though I did get better close ups, but thought the whole booth would be fun to see.

Now on to yarn news...

Today I ordered more un-dyed yarn, so in the next few weeks, look for new colorways of lace, dk, sport and worsted. Fingering weight will be not too far behind. I just need to sell a few more skeins to pay for a large batch I buy them in (10 skeins at a time). In the meantime, I thought I would share pictures of a few of the skeins that I just added to the Candy Skein shop that I dyed for the craft market that didn't sell. You can find all of these yarns at the Candy Skein website and the Candy Skein Artfire store.

  3. Awesome! It sounds like, relatively speaking, your first show went awesome! Especially the lady putting her project up on Ravelry - I think, as a buyer, seeing that kind of thing encourages me to make purchases, and I'm sure it's true of others (not that I'd need that to buy from you, cause I've already seen your product and such, but for someone new to the scene). :) Anyway, looking forward to seeing future colorways. :)

  4. Oh Tami. You and your yarn are going to make me very poor. But incredibly happy! xD That Lemon Drop skein is gorgeous and that Milk Chocolate yarn looks yummy.

  6. Ooh! Ooh! I see my skein! (Don't mind me, I'm just doing the Grape Taffy dance over here and trying hard not to sit on my mailbox for the next couple of days.) :)

  7. Halfpint and Tink, thank you!

Unforth, I totally agree with seeing projects. I hope to start a flickr page where people can add items they used Candy Skein yarn, or something to that affect, on the site. Thank you!

Charlotte, thank you! Feel free to buy ANY of the yarn I have for sale. ;)

    Dina, thank you!

Paula, YAY for the Grape Taffy! I sent it out yesterday. If Artfire didn't send you the tracking number (I believe it's supposed to), let me know and I can email it to you.

  10. Congratulations on what sounds like a successful experience! I enjoyed seeing the photos, it looks like a really pretty set-up. Now I'm off to lament my lack of job keeping me away from the pretty yarn and supporting a friend. . .

I am a klutz too and always manage to end up with something on my shirt when I am supposed to stay clean.

  12. Contessa, thank you so much! :)

Karen, thanks! Being a klutz sucks, doesn't it? It seriously never fails. Sadly, when I texted to tell my husband, he wasn't surprised at all.

  16. Vivianne, Cris: Thank you!

Kathleen, isn't it great to see them all together? I mean, I see them in Tupperware together, but it's just not the same. I can't wait until more people add their yarn to Rav projects! Oh, that milk chocolate skein might just be calling your name. ;)

Amber Renee, thank you! I haven't tried rainbow, but I do dye multiple hues. Check out candyskein.com and then click on the colorway area up top to see all the colorways that are available.
