Work-in-Progress Wednesday 41

Happy Wednesday! It's cold and rainy in Southern California, but that's okay for me, as I'm heading to Palm Springs this weekend. This cool weather will make the hot desert bearable, which is a nice surprise!

Since we're going to the desert and I just got a haircut (a severe haircut, chopping off about an average of 6 inches), I thought I would make the hair kerchief that someone had in last week's WIPW (sorry, I don't remember who at the moment!). I just bought two new bathing suits for the trip that have teals and blues/purples, so when I found this cotton in my stash, I knew it would be perfect for it. So far I like the way the yarn is pooling, except for the large white spot in the middle.

I haven't had too much time to work on my sock, but I finished the ribbing and am working on the heel flap. I decided to do the partridge eye version (I think that's what it's called), since I did the standard heel flap on my other sock.

For those that are new to WIPW, to share your WIPW post with us, just fill out the Mr. Linky below. Despite it saying you must comment, don't feel as if you do. That is something Mr. Linky automatically adds. I just ask you to check out a few of the links posted to see what everyone else is working on and comment there if you can. Everyone loves feedback and a little encouragement on their projects! Also, please link back to this post in your post to get the word out! The more the merrier!

Please remember to use the new link to your post from this week, overriding the one that Mr. Linky saves from the previous. Thanks!

  11. Kerchief, that takes me back, I tried to think of that word the other day and couldn't. We wore them all the time back in high school. Love the yarn colors, and having something on your head when at the beach is a good idea. Sometimes the wind is so strong it's annoying having your hair blowing in your face all the time.

  14. Whew...wasn't sure I'd have time, but managed to visit, read, and comment on 1-23. I do though wish people would get rid of those captcha things, it really slows down the visiting.

  18. Pinkundine, welcome back! Thanks for the nice sock comment. The yarn is Candy Skein Blackberry.

Sarah, totally the colors! I'm so pale, I can't go much darker in color without being washed out, so that's a good thing. LOL

Pearlin J, you should give socks a try! It's not as hard as it looks. Thank you. :)

Julie, I should have some time, as most of the trip we'll be sitting at the pool listening to tiki bands!

    Carole, thanks!

    Ms C, thank you!

Laura, welcome to WIPW and thank you!

  22. Love the color way of this new sock. I have heard that the eye of partridge is a good heel to know. Have fun in Palm Springs! Hope you get to finish your hair kerchief in time to use.

  23. Love the look of the yarn in the sock!

  24. Love the hair kerchief - another one to add to my to do list. The pooling looks great. Somewhere on the net there is a site devoted to pictures of pooling - sad but fascinating!

  25. Oooh I can't wait to see the kerchief when it is finished - the yarn is lovely! At least the ribbing for the sock is over so you are on to the fun bit! xxx

  26. Your sock is turning out really lovely! I adore the colors! I love doing the partridge eye stitch on my sock heels - especially with variegated yarns.

  27. A hair-kerchief sounds like a great idea. I hope you have a fab trip. I so love that sock!

  28. Contessa, I like the weather, too! Well, just not when the dog needs to go out. LOL Thanks on the nice comments. The pattern is really easy!

    Willow4, thank you!

Autumngeisha, yay! You're back! We missed you. :) Thanks on the nice sock compliments. The heel is actually pretty easy! Just adds a different row to it, adding 2 extra k stitches.

    Chris, thank you!

Clare, there is a thread on Ravelry I read every once in awhile regarding pooling where people share pictures of pooling yarn. There's also a few Rav groups I believe.

Another, you know, I don't mind the ribbing, though I will say it's not my favorite part.

Kathleen, thanks! I'm sure there are a ton of crochet kerchief projects out there.

Heather, thank you. I think I like the partridge eye better than the column looking one, though the column one seems like it comes out a little thicker.

    Nikki, thanks!
