Work-in-Progress Wednesday 33

Are we in a time warp where Wednesday comes around faster than the other days? Maybe it was because I didn't get any crochet/knitting done this weekend except for the trip up to Long Beach to take my in laws to the Queen Mary and a tiki bar. Who knows, but I can't believe it's Wednesday AGAIN!

First off, before I get to WIPW, I want to say how happy I am that Denise's husband is getting better! I'm not sure if you have all been keeping up with her blog, but I'm sitting here typing this with a huge smile on my face to hear such wonderful news. SO YAYAY for that! Denise, please send me your address via email (link in the sidebar).

Okay, back to WIPW:

I'm still working on the blanket of course, and really haven't done much with it. BUT, I did get to two rows of the 3rd color, so I figured I could show you that. :) So here it is. After one more row of that, I'll be repeating back to blue. I made it so wide that I have decided that ripples will go lengthwise. Should be interesting. The length is the size of my couch, so I think it will be a nice length.

Here is my scarf as of yesterday afternoon. I took it to my meet up group, so it's a little longer as I type this. I hope to finish it by FO Friday, but my yarn balls never seem to shrink. It's like the never ending yarn. I'm sure I'll be surprised once I get close to the end. I love it. As you can see, the two colorways have restarted. Sorry for the crap picture of the whole thing, but it was rainy today so it's weird lighting the blew out the colors. I also took a closeup looking away from the scarf so you can get a better idea of the fuzziness and texture of Chroma since a lot of people seemed interested in it. I still plan to write a review up on it when I finish my scarf.

I probably shouldn't have started something else, but I haven't made a dishcloth/washcloth in awhile and I was itching to make another one. I'm using the same pattern I used for this dishcloth, because I love how it turned out. I fell in love with the colors of this particular yarn, so I hope I'm just as happy with this one as the last.

I hope you have a great rest of the week!

  1. Wednesdays do seem to come fast now but that's ok because that means Friday and the weekend are right around the corner.

I love the color yarn you picked for the dishcloth. I am a sucker for handmade dishcloths yet never make them myself since I have a friend who makes them. I trade her my Alpaca yarn for a stock of her dishcloths and hot pads.

Loving the blanket colors. It will be great when it's done but that's the nice thing about blankets...they come in their own time.

Rockin' the scarf too. I am a suck for easy knits.

  2. Glad to hear about Denise. I haven't checked in there or pretty much anywhere in the last few days. Will make a point to stop by today. The scarf is great. Thank for showing the fuzz factor. Is the blanket being made with a chenille or does t have such a twist/fluff that it just looks that way. You may have said already and I just don't remember. Looks like it's gonna be a great snuggly one!

  3. I'll have to try to catch up with Denise, glad to hear her hubby is doing better.
Love the look and colors of the ripple, think lengthwise always gives a different look. Seems to take forever getting to the end of a row...but fewer rows makes you feel you're making quicker progress.

Scarf is looking soooo springy, nice.

  5. Thanks for the update on Denise. It brought a big smile to my face as well! Your scarf is looking gorgeous. The colors are so pretty. I love that colorway that you are using for the new dishcloth, too.

  6. I was overjoyed by Denise's last post too. They have been through such a rough haul!
I'm still digging the Chroma. Both my husband and my friend's husband are away for work all week so we are treating ourselves to a KnitPicks order tonight : )
Loving the richness of the colours on your blanket and dishcloth.

  7. Yay for Denise! Those folks have been through the wringer, for sure. I'm glad things are finally looking up.
Your blanket is looking great, and it looks like that scarf is just about finished. The colors are so fun! I feel you on having no time to knit, or do much else these days. I'm SO behind! We'll catch up with all of it soon, right??? :)

  8. So many colorful projects this week! I love how the beige and blue go together in the blanket. Your scarf will be done before you know it and the dishcloth is a nice little break from the bigger projects. Thanks again for hosting WIP Wednesday.

  9. WonderWhyGal, aren't handmade dishcloths/washcloths great? I know a lot of people just don't understand why you would knit them, but it's easy to obsess about them. It sounds like a great trade with your friend!

Dina, it's actually made from 100$ acrylic but is insanely soft and crazy fuzzy. It's called Red Heart Light and Lofty and it's a pain in the you know what. I can only work on it for an hour or so at a time because my arm gets so tired of pulling the yarn while crocheting with it. Not an easy task.

Sandy, I totally agree on the blanket. It takes FOREVER to do a row but when I do, I feel like I've accomplished so much in the blanket. I didn't plan it to be so long, but the pattern was too short width wise so I doubled it to make it easy on myself. In the meantime, it just made it insanely wide so I decided that would be the length. LOL

Vivianne, thank you! They're so pretty, aren't they?

autumngeisha, thank you and you're welcome. :)

Nikki, do share what you bought from Knit Picks! I love seeing/hearing about other people's orders. Did you buy any Chroma?

Paula, thanks. I hope we will catch up, though I'm afraid I'll always feel buried. LOL

Marushka, thanks and you're welcome! I agree, sometimes you just need a break from the big projects.

  14. Is it just me or is the scarf more Pastel-y in these shots? I'm really curious to see the finished project and you're really a great ad for Chroma (KnitPicks needs to pay attention!).

  15. I agree about Wednesdays coming fast. I was thinking the same thing as I was typing up my post!

Your projects look great! I know what you mean about never ending yarn balls. I've had a few of those myself. You look at it and think, "I'm almost to the end," but you just keep knitting and knitting and it never runs out!

  16. mutantsupermodel, it is in this shot. It wasn't good lighting due to it raining unfortunately. It is a lot more vibrant in person and the other pics. Thanks for the kind words!

wrchili, yeah, I almost feel like there are more than 1 Wednesday in a week! I seriously don't think my yarn will ever run out! This scarf will go on forever! LOL

  17. Thank you for celebrating with me. He's been off the vent since Monday morning. We had a bump in the road on Tuesday and it looks like a bigger one is coming. But he's still off the vent.

For me, it seems like years between Wednesday's anymore.

Your ripple looks like it will be warm and cozy when cool weather strikes again. I love the colors of your scarf.

Always can use another project on the needles, I say. Looking forward to seeing your project.

I'm going to try to catch up with everyone this week. Just so tired as I'm standing by his bed trying to help exercise his arms and legs, much of the day.

  18. Denise, you're very welcome! I'm so happy to hear that he is still off the vent. You guys have been through so much, and bigger bumps are expected, but you'll get through them. You take care of yourself and please send me your address as I have a little something to send your way. :)
