Work-in-Progress Wednesday 34

I hope everyone is having a great week! I am so far, and am excited because I just found out I don't have to watch my nieces tomorrow. That may sound terrible. I love watching them, but right now I'm on a huge roll with the blog and yarn dyeing. I've dyed 3 skeins in the last day and a half and love the results. I can't wait to share them with you all, but that's for another post.

I don't have a ton to share this week, as I've spent most of my time with said yarn and website. That being said, I thought I would take some new pics of my Chroma scarf (no, really, it WILL be done this week) in my new light box. This pic matches the color really well, so you can get a good look at what it REALLY looks like. Pretty, isn't it? (Seriously, you must be so sick of this scarf by now. You're probably thinking, oh my god, just finish it already!)

I know this isn't a project just yet, but I have six balls of this beautiful yarn. I started swatching to make this tank top yesterday, but my gauge was off so I have to go up a needle size. I don't have size US 10 that I like, so I may just ask my neighbor if I could borrow hers. We'll see. I've never done that before, but I DID just babysit her cat. I thought this was a great pattern to start clothing on, nice and simple. I think I'm going to do a few rows of ribbing so it doesn't curl at the bottom.

Old pic from yesterday on the left, new one on the right.

I thought you would all enjoy these pics. I went and got a different light bulb for my light box yesterday and loved to see the change between pictures. I also changed the setting a little on the camera. The new pic is a much closer representation of the true color of the yarn.

  1. I love seeing the scarf, it's so pretty. The new light bulb made a good difference to your photos. Doesn't yarn look amazing photographed against a plain white background?

  2. How interesting what a difference a lightbulb can make. I find it really hard to get true colour pics of greens and purples.
Your scarf is looking so squishy. I`m definitely not tired of seeing it!

  5. Your scarf is beautiful and the yarns are delicious to look at. What a difference changing the light bulb made on your yarn. That's the most frustrating part about photographing yarn and fibers for sale...getting the true color right. Argh!

  8. The photos look fantastic! Any chance you'd share the link to the DIY light box? I'm intrigued! Your scarf is looking fantastic, and if folks are sick of it already... I shudder to think of what they think of my 6-months-and-counting vest. ;)

  9. I never think about making summer garments with knitting or crocheting. I think of warmth and so think the 3 other months. I do like the tank though you've selected, and the blue is yummy. Though in truth I rarely make anything for myself...maybe one of these days. Keep us posted.

  10. What a difference that light bulb makes. I could have done with that when I photographed my laundry room last week. The yellow walls looked way brighter than they actually are. People think I need to wear shades every time I step in there!

  11. Man do I hate blogger. I responded to all of you and then blogger didn't save my comments. Here we go for the second time. LOL

CraftyCripple, it makes a HUGE difference. Thanks for the advice on the modes too. I played around with that a little. It's amazing to see the pictures side by side.

Nikki, thank you! I have trouble photographing greens, purples and reds/pinks.

    Tink, thank you.

Kerry, thanks, I love the colors, too. :)

WonderWhyGal, so true. I want people to know what color they are getting with my yarn when they buy it. I'm still not 100% happy, but it has improved greatly.

Countess Ablaze, thanks! I love the colors too! I hope I can wear it before it gets too hot. Today is supposed to be 78F, tomorrow 85F and Friday 81F. Luckily it goes back down into the 60s for the weekend.

CloseAcademy, thanks. I love it too!

Paula, wow, I didn't realize I didn't add the link. It only cost me about $12 to make and probably about an hour's time. Here you go: http://www.digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent

Sandy, I think most people think of knitted/crocheted items as fall/winter. There are many great patterns for spring/summer garments!

Jane, yep, same with my room pictures I posted with my pillow. The colors are SO much brighter in person.

CrochetBlogger, it is lovely! Thank you.

  13. The scarf really is beautiful, so it's hard to get tired of looking at it.

I bet the comfy will make a nice soft tank. I've used the comfy fingering, and couldn't stop touching my project, because it was so soft.

  14. Tami, I decided to join in on this one ;) Well my post is kind of both WIP and Finished haha. Amigurumis really don't take that much time. I used Claire's crane ^^

  16. Dawn, thank you!

wrchili, thanks! I know I'm kind of tired of looking at it! You know, even the swatched I knitted yesterday was awesome. This is my first time with Comfy and oh my! I couldn't stop stroking it.

Sharon, awesome! Can't wait to check it out. :)

Marushka, thank you! That means a lot.

  17. I love the stripes in the scarf! The color choices are beautiful! I'm afraid I'll never finish my WIP, so it may be a perpetual WIP. At least for this one. I generally have 2-4 projects going at the same time.

  18. Love the picture of the scarf against the white background. Such pretty colors. I think the tank top pattern is a good choice for a first garment. Mainly, no sleeves!

  19. Tami, I still love that scarf. Pretty spring colors. My brain is too fried right now to comment on much more.

  20. J.R., thank you! That's okay, a lot of people have perpetual WIPs. LOL

autumngeisha, thanks. That's what I was thinking with the no sleeve thing. Plus I'll get some use of it soon as weather is changing quickly here this spring.

Denise, thank you. I hope you're doing well.

  21. A lightbox makes all the difference! I got some little tabletop lights for my photography and the post production is so much faster now, and the photos look better overall.

PS I'm in love with your scarf.
